Had to do research to get the 14 years back into the post.  If you do new Pot, don't forget to add the years.

Enjoy this month's Coffee Pot.

30 degrees and fair.  Not as cold and warming tomorrow.  60's by weekend. Surprise  Next week 70's

Good night.

Mornin' boys.  Thanks, Chief, for startin' the new coffee pot.  Snohizo and 7 degrees along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Was going to go to office this AM, but now.... Only if big boss summons me.

Started assembling a tunnel liner and retaining wall for the layout.  Using NOCH 57720; material really fools the eye.

rt - Thanks.  I don't even work out...

TGIF.......

Snow is falling this morning in the Valley. A small herd of deer have already crossed the back yard through the snow. Big fluffy flakes make the woods a greeting card photo.

The train room is framed and the electrician starts the wiring today. I will have ten outlets to run the layout. Six track lights on a dimmer will light up the place. With the 8000 watt emergency generator as backup, trains can run 24/7.  :o

Mrs. Buckeye has requested I add a bump trolley. Your suggestions are welcomed.

Fife....Is the Noch product the flexible rock wall material? I used that on the last layout. At the joints I just hid them with vines and grass.

Buckeye - It's a paper product, with indentations.  Are you going to pre-hang/hide blue rope lights this go-round?  I opted not to.

The blue rope lights worked good when we turned down the lights so visitors knew where the edge of the layout was located. May do something different this time.

Aloha. It is funny how you adjust to today's high temp of 13. It seems so warm after the frigid temps of the past week. School was closed Monday for snow and closed Wed. and Thurs. for the cold. Back to 'normal' now. It felt good to get out. Ran trains quite a few times this week. It was a good excuse to keep an eye on the furnance which ran practically non-stop this week! Whew! Happy birthday to RT!

Afternoon fellas

Still frigid outside! Been a long time since it was this cold in MD. Even during the back-to-back blizzards in 09 it wasn't this cold.

Fired up the heatpump in the sunroom today... think it is the first time I've run it for longer than 10 minutes. Have the fireplace insert roaring as well... mainhouse heatpump hasn't come on in over 4 hours... keep it that way.

Put air in the Durango's tires this AM. It has been complaining about low tire pressure for a couple days, so brought her inside and filled her rubbers. Can't wait for the new house so I can keep her inside.

Not much else going on... oh...

Happy B-DayRT!

TGIF Buckeroos ----

A balmy 10F this morning at 0630, a full 8F higher than yesterday morning.

Snowing now in Southern New Jersey, up to 3 so the weather guessers say.

Hope to get the FD train board into the house tomorrow, legs are just about ready, I have to install the adjusters and then screw the legs on.  I can lay track and get that started to prototype to the main 5X9 board, which will need foam.

Hope to get track down and then buildings in the next 2 weeks.  Will be setting up wall sockets for track power and LeMax/Menards lighting.

Track Power will be a new ZW with 2-180W bricks and Legacy.  Accessory Power (I will be powering the switches on transformer) will be my Dad's 275W ZW mounted on an aluminum console from my first layout and switches will be for 2 independant loops or switching to full 1 track power loop (combining 2 main lines to 1 main power line). I have 6 switches total and will use 5 for accessory lighting. I'll be buying a heavy duty power strip for the LeMax/Menards stuff.

Laundry, Housework and trains on Saturday, will see Glass Saturday Night.

No Super Bowl plans.

Happy Birthday, CakeRT!!

Good evening all,

Stayed home.  Started to go to work, but almost slid on the on ramp and the radio was saying roads were awful so I turned around.  Got driver's license renewed and did my RMDs from a couple of beneficiary IRAs and shoveled walks.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Youse guys out east - cheer up.  Was mid 50's and sunny today.  This weather is headed your way!

Went another round with my health insurance company and the health plan administration company today.  Didn't result in much.  Our perscriptions are not yet being accepted by the insurance company.  Near as I can tell, something happened between the administration comapny and the insurance company that resulted in the insurance company not being updated that we are still paid up and active in 2019.  Probably won't be until mid next week before the bearucratic wheels creak arojnd to get things straightened out.

Really frustrating to be paying as much as we are to have issues like this - second time, too.  Similar thing happened when the company dropped me off of their list when I retired last year.  Sad thing is, the customer service phone workers can't really fix the problem and don't seem to care.  Glad I don't have that job.

The next project was to deal with the Social Security Administration to get an error in my records corrected.  This went off without any problems.

Entertaining story here - an armed gard greets everybody at the SS office asking to see identification and if we are carrying any weapons.  Well, I had my pocket knife, so I said oops, I'll go put it in my truck.  When I came back I pointed out that I was now in violation of ont of the Gibbs rules.  The securtiy guy looked puzzled, so I point out that one of Special Agent Gibbs rules was to always carry a knife, which I am no longer doing.  That got a slight eye roll and a smile from the security guy and oughtright chuckles from the other two people in the waiting room.

My wife has started Weight Watchers program.  It has changed over the years.  She was overjoyed to learn that turkey and shrimp are 'free' foods without limits.  She was really happy to discover that a Jimmy John's turkey unwich (lettiuce wrapped instead of bun) is also a 'free' food.

Went out and added air to the mini van tires and my truck tires.  The cold weather dropps the tire pressure.  When adding air to one of the truck tires, I noticed what looks like a 1/4" bolt in the second tread row.  Probaby explains why that tire is consistantly lower than the other three.  This will generate a run to the tire shop for a repair in the very new future.

About all for now.

Evening all!

Hit about 60 today! Yeah

Happy B-Day RT! Happy B-Day

Just got back from dinner with friends/neighbors. Stopped at a neighbors house after to view some remodeling work. Required adult beverages.

8n - a SS office with a couple of folks waiting??? The local office here is packed. If you do not make an appt (4-8 week wait) you can try and wait - I ran into a man who had been there two days when I tried to walk in and I gave up after 3 hours. And very few old folks there...

And...Valentine's Day dinner reservations made Thumbs Up

Got my heating and air conditioning installed today.  Had to hang around the house all day for the workmen.  Looks like a good job and everything seems to be working OK.  Just wondering how many trains I could have bought with that money.  Oh well, I needed it.

That's what I will be having done sometime after the 13th. Yes how many trains could I have bought. Oh well as you say it's a need. Right now we are running on emergency heat.

Waiting for some plastic people from japan so I can cut there feet of so they fit in my passenger cars. Once they get here I will probably order more, Once I see they will work. This is from a different seller so could be a differant product than I'm use to.

Hope all had a good day, and thanks again for all the Birthday wishes.

Happy birthday RT, they caught my old system before it totally gave out so I was never without heat or air.  That could be a real problem in a cold climate.

raSomething I ate yesterday has got me running from both ends today.  Getting a little better now.

The rain is with us again.  They say it will rain all day and more heavy rain on the way.  Only problem I have is just keeping my pool from overflowing.  I have to pump it out because there is no drain.

So long from Sunny California.

Ray

Evening all, If I didn't say it yesterday, thanks for the birthday wishes. I didn't buy anything with flanged wheels for my birthday but doesn't mean I can't later :)  I'am watching a couple of passenger cars ( a two car add on set. ) that would be nice addition to the matching set I already have.

I really need to start a layout here in this room, So I can start running trains again. Been about 4 going on 5 years I think since I have had a layout. This one would be a small one but it would work for time being until I can get garage converted into a train room.

Getting close to having all stuff sorted so we can have yard sale like we have never had before. I have 3 wire rack shelving units already full and I have about as much yet to go thru. And we are running out of room quick.

Hope all have a good week-end ( what is left of it. )

Morning All!,

Should get up to 40 today. I'm breaking out the shorts!! Laugh

Usual Sunday grind - hockey, repent my sins and groceries. Still trying to hammer out Super Bowl details with the boys. All I know is I won't be home to listen to the GLOAT!

RT - Happy belated Birthday!

Rich - That's a good chunk of power for your layout. Can't go wrong with the "Hemi" of transformers x2. Big Smile

Banks - Are you going to watch The Pacific now? For my two cents, it wasn't as good as B of B, but worth watching at least once.

Have a good one and prayers (and Go Rams!!! Laugh )

Rob

Mornin' boys.  We survived the polar vortex unscathed...until we recieve the January utility bill.  Not watching the game.  Have lost all interest in NFL.  Actually, took the girls to Buffalo Wild Wings last night, and had zero interest in any of the games being shown, on any screen.

Cloudy and 41 degrees.

Daytime highs above 32 till Saturday will give the snow time to melt before the next snow comes along. Our freezer is in the attached garage but that minus zero temps we had made it pretty cold in there. On a hunch this morning I checked the defrost drain and it was froze solid. Glad I took the time to check it.

Warm enough this morning that I was able to wash both Hondas. There is still lots of snow on the ground. Several ice fisherman are on the lake and for Central Ohio that does not happen every winter. Ice is being reported at 6" thick.

New train room is framed up. Ten wall outlets are being installed to power the new BOW RR. Maybe the electric company will need to run another line from the road to the house to provide adaquate power.Whistling

Have a good week.
