Good Evening from beautiful 70°F Southern Ohio,

The girls and I went to a Rabbit Show in the next county north scoping out some rabbits for 4-H.  We bought a Netherland Dwarf buck and got a lead on a doe.  The oldest girl will breed them and show them in the fancy litter competition.  While there we made arrangements to get a couple New Zealand bred does for the meat pen competition.  From the rabbit show went to the boy's baseball double - header, they split, a loss 11 – 2; then a win 7 –6.  Assisted Mass on the West side county parish then came home and my bride grilled steaks and a Sam Adams for supper.

I won a couple of log unloading cars off the bay.  I made try and put the log loader and maybe the sawmill on the All Aboard panel display for this coming fall.

I looked at the video about the lost collection and saw a few boxes of All Aboard panels, I wonder if one of them was a crossover???

Kev – I've used the paint you're talking about and I agree it would have too much texture.  I build a 48" bridge out of cherry and stained it.  It is pretty but not realistic.  I think a light grey would work well.

Bob – Sounds like you're busy too!

Banks – Sounds like you've got some good fish going there.

Good Night and may God bless

Good evening all,

Had good success at the train show today, scoring a 1985 catalog I had need for, a HO CB&Q boxcar, and two O sized Plasticville stores.  Had a nice visit with Lucas and his wife.  Went to Mass while we were there.  Good to go to a regular church again.  Good first long drive in Encore.  Very nice.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hi All. It sure would be nice if this weather would stabilize! No wonder everyone in my part of the world are sick. I was able to sneak a quick walk in with the dog before the rain started...again. I had my last hockey game of the season, which is good because I'll need the six months to recover! The Mrs. is bugging me to take her to Disney World, so I was able to leverage my train spending allowance up a bit as a compromise!!

Kev - depending on what you are trying to acheive with your concrete color (new vs. weathered), I actually prefer to use a color closer to a khaki. Concrete usually ages to that color rather than a grey. Typically, I'll follow it up with a grimy black wash and a bit of a rust wash at the top of the piers where the bridge sits.

Sir James - I was thinking the same when mine came in the mail. Love that 2373 on the cover though!

Been a real busy week and weekend for me.  Several mornings, up at 5:30 and not getting home until 10:00 or 10:30.  Did get to go to the farms Friday but carried a backpack sprayer 3+ miles.  Already started spraying around camper area and shooting lanes.

Yesterday, Kiwanis Club [I'm a member] and some Rolesville HS kids did a food pantry in front of Town Hall.  Served 261 people.  Then, what was left was donated to the Durhman Rescue Mission.  They feed 3 meals a day 365 days.

Proud of these kids.  All volunteered over half a day.

Hope all have a great week ahead.

PS: go Kev.  Looks great.

Evening all!

Had a long end of the week with a fast trip to the Big Apple to take down the New York Historical Society tinplate/standard gauge train display (not the antiques, museum staff handles that). Had to work most of the night Thurs night, Fri afternoon, and then a few hours last Fri night. Then up at 6 am Sat to catch a flight home.

Had hoped to get caught up on sleep Sat night and then we got a call from our daughter who needed a ride to emergency room for an appendicitis scare. Turned out no issues and it is a bad intestinal virus. But did not get home until 2 am this morning. Did sleep until noon but still beat.

Kev - nice work on the elevated. I like a gray with a light overspray of the khaki/tan.

Fife - are you staying inside the lines with the paint job?

Chief - nice job by the kids.

Almost forgot - got the new front brake master cylinder in from tim-buk-tu China. Fits perfectly! Son took it for a test drive and since he was there I took it for a quick scoot (!) - he could pick me up if I fell over! It was the first time I rode it. Pretty fun but these things are expensive to get insurance for and drivers here would just call it a "target".

Good evening all,

Did 12 miles today.  First six were pretty good at 1:25:58.  Second six not so good at 1:47:50.  Just ran out of steam.  Kind of discouraging.  That 4 MPH barrier may not be cracked.   Rained off and on today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Just got home from my jazz club concert once a month.  They had a new venue today.  We had to move about 15 miles to the East to Cucamonga.  (Remember Anaheim, Azusa and Cucamonga) from Jack Benny.  It was just a plain building with four walls, no food, no drinks with hard folding chairs and an added feature was leaving the front door open so you get a wind tunnel effect and it was cool today.  It is better than nothing and the landlord promises to have more ammenities next month.  Anyway, the music was good and I stayed for about 3 and a half hours.  Thought about eating out but just had left overs.  Got a phone message that a distant friend from scouting days with our kids passed away this morning.  He used to take me fishing at Big Bear Lake.  Nice guy.  Condolences to the family.  Going to a mass for Helen in the morning with my oldest son and family.  We will go out to breakfast together after that.  I have an appointment with my Tax preparer on Tuesday.  Will be glad to get that over with.  Later.

Roy, hope that 4” hail down there missed you last night. WQW! Surprise You got a picture of that scooter? I am looking for something for the grand-kids to break their necks on to ride around here. Smile, Wink & Grin
I added small feet to the bents yesterday so I can fasten them to the table from the top.
Off to the eye doc this morning and we will “SEE” where things go from there. Geeked

We had a beautiful day on Saturday with temps in the mid 70s and sunny.  It was just a teaser.  Next 15 day forecast shows only one sunny day and one day at 70, with rain.  Most are low 60s & cloudy and rain.  Oh well that's typical for April in PA.

I do hope it gives us some nice weather for York, it is the latest in April this year that I can remember.

Heading to the TCA Museum/Library tomorrow.  I've been cataloging News Clippings the last few months.  Some of them very interesting and then I spend more time reading them then cataloging them.

Everyone have a great week.

Evening all!

Busy day today with some work in the morning, a look at a broken sprinkler valve (prep for repair by scoping out the mud from the in-ground valve box) and then off to the TW Trainworx shops to set up the 8x20 layout for the layout festival (and LCCA special event) this Sat, April 1st.

KEV - no photos at this time. No photo account.

Dennis - good luck with the procedure.

JEF - good to have you check in! Hope to see you at York!

Evening all. I now have someone coming tomorrow to start replacing my shingles on the garage. There real bad. I took a look at them about a week ago and there actually crumbling as you touch them to inspect them. So there's another $1100. He is also going to cut a doorway into the storage room connected to the garage.

That means I need to make room ( Clear out ) where the doorway is going to be. All in a days work. Smile Still have other things on the list to be done but all in time.

Hope all had a good day.

Talk to you all later

Hello all

We have a storm system coming thru so I'm not sure how long we will be open for business.

Found a small book on the history of the Los Angeles Railway where both of our Huntington standard cars came from.

Also found a good deal on a Bowser tinplate two-truck trolley. Been looking for one of these for a while, but they tend to start @ $100 and go up from there. Got this one for about half that. It is missing one truck side frame, but I can live w/ that.

Airbrushed the wood deck color on a 1/700 scale version of the USS Arizona last night. Every time I get out the airbrush it's a bit of a learning experience, but I like how it turned out. Now to do the lighter color on the upperworks. The main part of the ship will be a dark blue. Apparently, not too long before the attack Adm. Kimmel ordered the fleet to be painted in a dark mediterranian blue scheme rather than the light gray that is typically seen. The tops of three turrets were painted red for recognition by the observation planes. So this is how I am painting the model.

Good Morning,

Gray 43 heading to 53 no rain.

Did do some glue work on the north loop platform yesterday. Once it is dry I can start to lay them out above the table.

Found these at Menards. Think I will buy 2 of them for the front of the property. They show 3 in stock at Morris so I can look at one first.

https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/fencing/metal-fencing/adjustable-cottage-barrier-gate/p-1444430941083-c-5766.htm

Sounds like a neat model Bob. Is that the Dumas model?

Morning all!

Cloudy, 60's going to 70's. Possible storms tonight with possibility of hail.

Kev - the storms day before yesterday spilt and went north and south of the core of DFW. Some folks in Frisco (north of here) had their roofs destroyed for the 2nd time in 3 years.

Developed a head cold last night. Probably caught it on the trip.

64 degrees and cloudy. Spitting big drops of rain. No pour down yet. Guessers missed the guess again as no big rains this AM at dawn. Wiley [Yorkie] couldn't stand me sleeping past 7:30. Caught up on DVR'd hunting shows except Dog Soldier. Now get ready to go appease an old Town Commissioner who thinks he is the most important thing around. Part of my duties.

Tomato plants are chest high. Yanks, stop sending any frosty weather this way. Need to transplant them. Had to go to my "reed pile" brought from the farm. Got taller ones and inserted in pots through the cable ties I had around shorter ones. Never had then grow so fast in pots in greenhouse. They grow three or four inches a day now. Days like yesterday, fans run a lot. Thermostat set on 90 degrees. May have to put shade cloth on.

Waiting for the guessed T'storms. Have a good one.

Howdy All !

Beginiing to feel a little bit alive finally. Fri and Sat at the museum, kid's club on Sat., so other than unpacking a bunch of stuff on Sunday it was time to vegitate. Yesterday and so far today have been working on taxes, still got a long way to go.Bang Head

Kev, Bents are looking good.

Roy, Did you pick up that headcold in that flying petri dish ?

Going to make a shameless plug for Jersey Mike's Subs today. Tomorrow ,3/29, all proceeds from the day's sales go to local charities. The BetterHalf and I will be going for either lunch or dinner and what we spend will go to Rady's Children's Hospital. Great sub and a great cause. Thumbs Up

I think I hear my tax papers calling.

Evening all from cloudy Southern Ohio,

We made arrangements to get a Netherland dwarf doe, I’ll go get it on Friday and firmed the arrangements for the two New Zealands for meat pen competition.  I also cleaned up several of the All Aboard panels, scrubbing them up and buffing the track.  I found Lowes has a 18 x 18 x 16 moving box that is perfect for storing the 17 x 17 panels in and they are $1.81 each.

The flu bug is rampant at work right now but praise be to God I have not get it.

Roy – good find on the master cylinder, so much easier when the parts fit

Good Night and may God bless

Jim

Oh,,today,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Today was one of those John Entwistle "Smash Your Head Against the Wall" days. All looked fine on the floor and I started to lay it out on the table. Everything was working way to good. Then I tried to add the loop to the north end west side and it hits the outer elevated loop so it needs to be cut back about 8". Problem is the straight sections are not parallel so all of the geometry is all messed up. Guess I have to take what I got and try to save what I can. So much for the SCARM program .

BUT!!!

After looking back over a beer of desperation,,,,,, I had to go back to the original way I drafted it and now it is just like in the SCARM drawing. Stupid me, I threw a curve in that was not in the program that threw it all off.

Heck if it was easy everyone would do it.

The plan is to get it all up and running then take it off and finish it, then re-install it to the table.

Now,,,to start on the south reverse loop. Tongue Tied

Hello all

Another quiet evening on the mountain. And it's official, they put me in charge rather than just hold me responsible. Been kind of overseeing this place for the last 10 years, but now they call me the 'lead operator'. After 15 seasons here and almost 50 years of age, I got my first 'command'?

And since one of our operators hurt his knee skiing, I had to deal w/ my first scheduling emergency tonight.

Kev - this is a 1/700 scale plastic model of the USS Arizona. Imagine the ship scaled down to about 10". I find this scale a challenge and it's all I can fit in the space where I live:) The Dumas kit is a 1/32 scale model of a 110' sub chaser. That one will eventually go in the water. And nice work on the elevated section btw.

Shot the light upperworks and the red of the lower hull. Will let this dry and some other week I will go for the dark blue. I want to lighten the paint I have up a bit, so once I mix it for the airbrush I will use the rest for what I have to do w/ a brush.

While the spray booth is set up I may try shooting the white and blue on a Kingfisher model I'm also working on. After painting the 1/700 version of this plane (less than 1") I found a 1/72 kit of one. Like I needed another project, but what the heck.

Dennis,

The layout is in the basement of the house. It takes up an overall area of 26'x12'

The shop is inside my pole building and it is 30'x32' with HVAC. The cold side of the building is 26'x32'

Hello there,
craziness at work continues. Need 6 or 8 good men for a few weeks. Trying to hire but little response.

Split the cases on grandson's new 04 KTM 65 . It needs a few things but got most of what we need used on the bay. By the time it's ready to ride we'll have less than $800 in it and I know that the engine is good.

Studying hard for my test Friday but have a bad feeling about it.

Got the Oliver in one piece and running. Need to move some junk and get it out of the garage. Found everything needed to put the saw on it. Hope to start cutting trees next weekend. Anybody that shows to help is welcome to take some wood.

Busy last evening. Donated blood, (no.79) attended a viewing followed by a penance service.

Sub Bob......bet they threw you a bone and gave you a whole lot more responsibility. Been there done that.

kev....didn't realize your building was that big. Bet its full cause they never seem to be big enough

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need

Afternoon fellas

Dropped TheQ off at the airport for her trip to Dallas... I have to play single-parent till Saturday morning. LOL

Kev - that upper level looks really nice. Did you change your mind and decide not to paint it?

Banks - wish I could help with the job and cutting wood. I've got 5 trees that need to come down around the house. I can drop them, but don't like doing it myself, and since my neighbors keep saying 'Yes, I can help' and then not being available, looks like I'll be calling some tree companies to get quotes on dropping or topping them to 20ft. We'll see. Need to clear some smaller trees in prep for a new swing/playset for the kiddos.

Kev, nice work on the layout.  Looks nice.

Chief, sounds like good tomato crop this year.

I got my taxes done yesterday.  That is a big relief.  I'm getting quite a bit back this time because of all the medical stuff.  I can use it.

Had computer trouble yesterday but it was cleared up by my provider.

Went to 8:30AM mass today followed by discussion group with coffee and pastry items.  Had trouble staying awake.  Not used to getting up early.  I'm not a morning person.
