When we lived in New York City we experienced the 9 1 1 attacks.

We are now here in Orlando and, once again, a tragic event.

Our thoughts and prayers go out for all the victims and their families.

Hello There,

So sad .......and infuriating, about Orlando.......PRAYERS

Been a couple o lazy days so far. Spent yesterday nappn', readn' and catchn' up on Alaskan Bush People. Not sure what today will bring. Today is Son & his Family's day. They leave tomorrow. Due to bumping at the railroad he needs to be back at work Wendsday. (He actually took a couple o' days without pay)because he dosen't have enough seniority to get the days he wants. Daughter could't come due to kids sports schedule so Mrs & I will have a couple days alone. Not sure what we'llget in to. Gonna try to make a trip to Toy Town in Berlin MD.

I hear somebody moving. Guess I'll go see what's on the agenda for today

Prayers for those in need

Morning.  Real hot over the weekend.  Cooler and less humid today.  Out to do garden work.  Then Mayor work this afternoon.

Sad about Orlando.  Guess one day politicians will realize we are at war.  Do something about it instead of playing around pretending.

Have a great week.

Chief agree with you 100% on the politicians. I've been say they all have there head in the sand like a ostrich.

Morning all Sad Day in for Orlando after yesterday sensless shooting.

Not a lot going on here today. I got 3 whistles for tenders going yesterday. Smile  I had to rewire all of them. No real plans for today waiting on phone calls as the Cable box in livingroom died yesterday but now seems to work. Have had this problem before with this box. It's the DVR box I'm about to tell them to get rid of it and give me just a regular box as we don't use it anyway. Then the dryer stop heating up yesterday so waiting on a return call on that for repair as it is covered under the home warranty. Just a $45 service call.

Hope all are doing well today. Waiting for wife to get up so we can take clothes to the laundry mat to get dried.

Good morning all,

Stunned and angry about about Orlando.  Suicide by cop was too good for that guy.  Chief, you're right.  We are at war.

On a brighter note, I just found out that my insurance claim for my wife's care was approved.  Only problem is that the facility gets paid in advance but Insurance pays at the end of the services rendered which means that I will have to pay another month out of pocket.  I suppose It will even out when I get the last payment at the end of two years.

Bullies always choose the targets they feel are the weakest or least likely to fight back.  One tried that stuff with me my very first day of kindergarten.  I clocked him with my bookbag and even though he never bothered me again, what I did wasn't right either.  I know, I was only 6 but I refuse to accept that as an excuse for my actions.  That's the difference between the 99% of us who live respectably and the 1% (less really) who perpetrate these heinous acts.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Good walk at noon.  Quiet night at home.   Finished reading "Black Noon".  It is about the 1964 Indy 500.   Good book.  Older daughter got it from the library and let me read it as well.   She never understood the 500.   Now she at least understands why it means so much to me.   The book is so sad on so many levels.   Obviously for the deaths of Sachs and McDonald, but to a lesser extent in that it is a tale of what used to be and never will be again.   Memories of when the track opened on May 1st and there were 10-15 days of practice and 2 weekends of qualifying and people had to "bump" their way into the field because there over 40 to 50 cars at the track to try to make the show.  Gone....all gone....  Not sure what to make of anything anymore.   Seeing all these politicians and commentators trying to make points over Orlando, it just makes me sick....

June 14, it's flag day.

The detroit3railers outdoor June meet is on line at OGR. We finished the last loop 1 week before the meet. We were waiting for the 96 inch curve Fastrack. Detroit3railers. No ad, we do not sell anything. We don't even have club dues.

 Good morning,

72 muggy, heading to 84. Got a good rain last night. 1.4"

Feel much better today, grass around the house will need a cutting later today. Hope the Trimec got a good hold yesterday before the storms. I think it did. It was on for at least 4 hours before the rain.

Same with me and getting up on this 8/12 roof these days V8!

Good Morning from Hollywood

Kids having a good time here.  Did the Disney thing yesterday and shut down the park.  We’re going to Leo Carrillo beach today so bride and I can rest up.  We got in Sunday morning and heard about the shootings when we picked up the rental van.

Gabriel and I went to the Peterson Automotive Museum, wow, beautiful cars.  Then all the family went to Mass.  Church is only ½ mile from daughter’s house.

Flag day - a reminder of our pledge of allegiance is not to politicians

Penny you are right.

May God have mercy on the souls of the dead especially those from the shooting

May God bless

Evening all. Been  along day already ( to us anyway ) as we normally don't get up at 5:30am but needed to to give wife time to get ready so we could get car to dealership by 8:00. They where installing a Sirus unit in the car for me today. ( deal that I buy the unit they would put it in it as was under the impression it had it when I bought the car) any way that was like 4hrs almost. Tomorrow i have a major dental work being done and have to drive an hour each way so wanted to be able to listen to music without losing the station.

Not much else going on here. Prayers for all who need them and the folks down in Orlando and there friends and families.

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Rain all day so no walk.  Mostly caught up so taking a personal day tomorrow to spend day with grand kids who are staying with us for a couple of days.  Ran trains for the youngest.   I heard from my Norwegian soccer friend in response to email I sent to her about Orlando.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening All,

Had a great day, was at home all day.  Played in the train room for awhile.  A friend of Kay's gave her some paintings of trains.  They are really awesome the artist is Fred Bonn, her friend gave us 3, they are all signed by the artist and are numbered.  One is "artists proof" not sure what that means but they look great. Here is  An example...

Difficult finding space for them but I will.

Tomorrow plan on another day fiddling around the house.

Talked with the Chief last night, he seems to be doing well, but is really been working a lot of mayor stuff.

Hope everyone has a great day, and good luck at the Dentist RT.

Morning guys, rain overnight, don't know how much yet. We were real dry and needed it. 76 heading to 92, will be steamy.

SS payday so it is fill the truck and can with gas and stash some cash into the savings account for the back half of the tax bill. Then goof off today. I did get the yard around the house cut yesterdaay so everything has been mowed since Sunday.

Looks like the Trimec worked. The broad leaf weeds are looking sick. Maybe next time I will make it a bit heaver. Went light to be sure I did not burn the grass that is new.

Buenos Dias Amigos !

Spent several days fighting computer upgrades/PITA, still not totally happy but ain't much of an alternative.

Yesterday was Cardiac Cath Lab day, in other words cardiac roto-rooter. Trying to lay flat in a hospital bed w/out moving is extreme cruelty, although the nursing staff came in to take me for a short walk when the restrictions expired in the WHEE hours of the morning. Think they were just tired of hearing me grouse and scolding me for moving. My cardiologist was extremely surprised, in a good way, with the findings. His suspiscions about the causes of my current symptoms didn't pan out, so back to the drug mods and blood tests. No trains or extra activities for the next three days. Grumpy

Think it's time for a snooze.

Good evening all,

Spent the day with the grandkids.   Boy they wear you out.   Had a game tonight.  High point of the game was afterwards when I saw that my cousin's daughter and one of "my" soccer girls had been over to watch the game.   Despite my best effort of the season, we lost 5-2.   Rained during second half of match.  Did some errands as well after the game.  Back to work tomorrow to rest....  I hope everyone has a good day.

V8 Dennis, good luck with the evaporative cooler.  I still have one on one side of the house but it is currently out of service since I put in A/C.  When they painted the house this year, they painted the cooler too.  It matches the house now but the paint gummed up the aspen water pads which would have to be replaced.  I'd like to just get rid of it but it isn't bothering anything right now.

Dougda, glad you got through the roto rooter job.  Prayers for the future.  I would like to visit you at the museum maybe this year when things calm down at home.

Phish, enjoy your stay here in SoCal.  How long will you be here?

later,

Ray

Summer got here.  My dashboard thermometer read 103 when I got in the car to go home this evening.  It did drop down to 99 by the time I got home.

My wife brought home a 4 month old american terrier mix puppy last week.  Going to be a good dog when it grows up.  Lots of work right now, though.

On the train front, not much going on.

All for now.

Morning.  81 degrees [jumped fast after clouds burned off].  Mid 90's with high humidity.

8N, stay hydrated.  Understand scorching temps west of NC.  All be careful.

May mow today when dries out.  Had some rain last night.  Some had a lot of rain and a tornado warning 12 miles north of us.

Did one day at the farm moving another deer stand to a better location.  Soybeans [a great deer food] have come up all over the farm.  Should be a great deer season coming this fall.  No cotton.  Cotton prices fell.

Hope all have a good one.

Morning guys,

Cooled down nicely overnight and should not get above 79 today. Back up tomorrow. The 2.2" of rain we got in the last 48 hours and the high temps has given birth to every example of non-desirable bug know to the forest around us and they are all hungry for flesh or blood. Surprise

Dr apt at 10:30 this morning then, not sure.

You are right Mike about grand kids, they let you know why you need to be young when you have kids. At least we can send them home. Wink

Chife, the farmer planted soybeans this year after corn last year in the fields east and north of us so most of the summer the deer will just live by the fields and will only return to the woods at harvest.

Notice though how many of those ads that used to be several pages in the 90's are down to half a page these days.  And yesterday I learned that another LHS will be closing soon.  Shopping just isn't what it used to be.

Good evening all !

Feel a bit more awake, not quite as mentally vegetative. Guess most of the drugs from Tuesday are being flushed out. Yesterday I slept most of the day off and on. Getting kinda bored out of my gourd since I am not allowed to do much of anything, but the scariest part this is that my BetterHalf has to drive me around for one more day. Sigh

No museum tomorrow, pacemaker clinic for ICD test.

Unfortunately with all the things going on this past week I didn't get the a/c folks out to service the unit. They say it's going to be a rough period Sunday thru Tuesday, 100*+. Bang Head

Prayers for all our families and friends in need.

Later all !

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Rested up from being with the grandkids LOL.  Mowed yard tonight.  Did not get to tell you about American Plastic Brick set that arrived yesterday from eBay.  This is one of the boxed sets (as opposed to the more familar tube sets that came later on) with all plastic parts.  So far, nothing is remarkable except for the quantity and quality of the paper roofs.  There were 12 roof pieces, all of which look practically unused.   Bricks I have plenty of, roofs not so much until yesterday.   Weather is somewhat cooler.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

where did the week go???????? Gotta pack up tomorrow and head home. Son and family left Tuesday evening. I spent much of Wednesday working from here. In the PM Mrs & I made an excursion to Assateaque to explore. Spent a couple o hours sitting on a Bayside Beach enjoying the weather and watching people. Finished the day at a Chineese Buffet and the QVC outlet store. Today we rode the Cape May/Lewes Ferry to Cape May. Raining like he** when we got there. We attended Mass in beautiful Our Lady Star Of The Sea church in Cape May. (part of the plan) We had lunch and the rain was done so we continued exploring. Return trip got us back in time for a late supper followed by filling grandkids cloths orders from the Rehobeth outlets on the way back to the condo.

Son and I made a trip to Toy Town Tuesday AM. I picked up 3 early Tyco/Mantua box cars at a good price

Best get to bed. All you with ailments take care o yourself

Busy, busy day at work.  Tomorrow does not look much better.  Last week, most of the guys who call meetings were gone, making it nice and quiet to get the things we talk about in the meetings done.  This week, they seem to be trying to make uf for the lack of meetings next week.

I mowed the parts of the yard that needed it tonight.  If the weather holds, I probably won't need to mow again for a couple of weeks.  Yes, Chief, I drank  lots of water.

One of the local professional photographers took a picture of my Polar Express layout when it was set up at the KATY museum last year - maybe the year before.  He dressed it up digitally and gave me a large print.  It is a great picture.  I spoke to him a couple weeks ago at the Scott Joplin festival and asked if I could submit it to CTT for the readers page.  He sent me a digital copy of the picture today.  I'll figure out how to submit it in the next couple of weeks.

The puppy is sleeping at the moment.  I notice that his head is too big for the rest of his body - he is going to grow some more.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Anybody know anything about Lionel HO values?  A lady called me today and said it belonged to her sister and that she was being offered $300 for it.  It was in nice shape and in the original box according to her.  Without more detail, I was not able to make a guess.  Are Lionel HO trains rare? or collectable?  $300 sounded OK to me but I told her that I really never bought or sold Lionel HO.
