I did read as many of the various scenarios as I could before posting. I seem to have no problem jumping from one view to another, one Kalmbake forum to another.
Still "testing" as it were, trying to see if my legacy software has the issues the latest stuff does.

For me, the logging-out always happens when I'm switching from one view to another, never when I'm just reading a static page or typing a post. For example, it might happen when I go from the top page to read a specific topic, or when I return to the top afterwards. Another example: It wouldn't surprise me if I found myself logged out after submitting this reply.

No issues so far this morning. Shut down last night (no specific log out), CCleaner run as always, with Klambake Cookies saved, and still logged on this morning.
Still posting, apparently.
I should try the WinDoze 95 machine just for giggles with IE4 and see if that works.
That was a joke. However, I do have the 95 disc set, still....
I am watching this here. Just started doing so, we'll see here if I get auto-logged out.
It might be interesting to try to track which type of devices have the issues, and which OS have the issues.
My end, every once in a while some website will hack up a hairball on me, but because of the stuff I use, there aren't the bells and whistles that seem to cause these issues nearly as often.
Sent from my trusty PC using XP SP3
(Edit: I logged in with my OLD password here....no prompt for new password or anjy of that...so far)
Happens to me quite regularly.

I spoke too soon. It's logging me out capriciously again.
I began to notice in the last week or so that I haven't had to log in repeatedly to continue a session. I waited to be sure before posting this. I can even log in with the "keep me logged in" button unchecked. Thanks to whoever fixed the forum! I hope this change helps everyone who had trouble.
Bob,I was tracking my login issues. I don't move from forum to forum so I don't know about those issues.I'm not sure if the new service they are using uses 'cookies', which I suspect they do, but that would be what is getting cleared or whatever other method they are using to track logins.

I don't think this explains what happens to me.
What is it that "you lose" if you don't log in every day?
What do you mean that "all of them get cleared?" What are they that get "cleared," and what effect does "clearing" have?
My trouble is that I can't log in at all without leaving the mis-named keep-me-logged-in box; and then, when I get in, I am repeatedly and arbitrarily logged out as I try to navigate the forum.
Agree! I go back and forth between my iPad (to read posts) and my laptop PC (to make posts that contain photos). Happens every time.

Bob,I figured it out!1. You have to log in every day from the same device. If you miss a day, you lose.2. Use only one device, if you log in from another device, all of them get cleared.
Looove oatmeal cookies! But I don't like oatmeal!
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Penny Trains Seems to happen to me any time I loose my cookies.

Bob sorry wasn't clear. Why does it only happen to certain people not others. Like I have been lucky I guess as it has not affected me.

I'm pretty certain that if the problem exisits here, it happens in the other forums (Trains, Classic Trains, Garden Trailways, Model Railroader, Astronomy, Discover, etc.) since they all use the same system on the same servers in Florida.
Not complaining Bob but why does it seem just to afect just certain ones? And it seems like it isn't that high as I only see like maybe 10 that post here anyway.
I misunderstood you, Bob. Call customer service, though I suspect you'll have to keep logging in the same way.
Bob - I use my email address to login, not my username.
I have to log back in from zero to five times a day, so I understand it. Unfortunately, the system migration from earlier this year went to a system that manages using e-mail addresses, not forum handles. We can't change it since it isn't our software or on our servers. Sorry.
Have to agree with Bob - this is becoming more than annoyinn.
Is there any hope that this problem of having to log in over and over will be solved?
I've had to log in three times since last Thursday, safe to say the issue will be with us for a while.
This post is just me being a squeaky wheel. Nothing has changed. Is the problem still on the stack?
As much as I hate going for days and not needing to log back in, then having to log in three or four times in a day, strictly speaking, the forum isn't the problem. All authentication had been done through the software system that managed customer accounts.
The data migration several weeks back was a move to a different customer management system that apparently doesn't play well with the forum software. Our IS people are looking at it, but I'm not optimistic of a fix, or of a fix anytime soon (there are other technical issues higher on the stack). Just keeping you guys in the loop.
The password problem is very annoying, and having to check the "keep me logged in" is about the only way to navigate the forum. The forum upgrade that was done little over a year ago, totally ruined a very good forum as far as I am concerned. The old system worked, and worked very well. You could see who was on-line when you logged in, so that it was easy to start a discussion with someone. That feature was lost in the upgrade. I come here less and less, because of all these new problems, and have found better forums to fill my needs? I do subscribe to CTT, and it is the only magazine for the hobby that I enjoy reading. The problem is the forum.
Just reporting that the login problem is unchanged: I have to leave the "Keep me logged in" checked to be able to log in at all; and then it logs me out randomly anyway during the session.
Bob, thanks for the reassurance that you all are trying to fix it. (I got kicked out after reading your post and had to log in again to post this! I feel like that "Keep me logged in" box is mocking me every time I log in.)
Yes, the problem is being worked on. Forum logins are authenticated through the customer database, and this problem is related to another issue. I believe I've had to log in, oh, five or six times in the last week where in the past I could go several months without logging back in. Nobody is happy.
