Wife and I went to Christmas train meet at TTOS in Arcadia Sunday and visited with a few friends including D.Baker and his friend Bob. I also ran into a real old friend who is over 100 now. He and I were in the same model railroad club back in the 60's. Haven't seen him in several years. Was very glad that he is still with us.
Two doctor appointments today re wife. Her surgery is doing OK.
Went out to eat against my wishes with our pesky friend from church who was about to have crocodile tears last night. Had to cut short my visit with family and give up a good left over dinner at home. I hate being a people pleaser. I have told him point blank to his face that I'm only going out for his sake, not mine but he still doesn't get it. Maybe St. Peter will put a few more points in the book for me.
We will have that left over tri tip tonight and make up for lost time.

Desert, TT, road race, some in drag race , flattrack, hillclimb. Motocross was popular in europe, we had hardly heard of it, TT was our closest to motocross. They were a big bike sutable for across the United States travel. Japanese bikes were just getting started.

V8, Yes the TT 650s were the bike to have when I was a up-comer. I have had four Triumphs. First was a 1967 TR6C single carb 650 with up-swept pipes, second was a trail 250cc that could not take any kind of road use so got rid of it and got a 1972 TR6C single carb 650 with after market down pipes. After a year or so it started to pop out of 2nd gear so I sold it and bought the 1975 T-160 Trident (last year of the three cylinder Tridents) new in the crate and assembled it at Werth’s Triumph shop in Joliet Il. Back then there were a lot of flat track and TT racers who would hang out at Werth’s Triumph when racing in the Chicago area. I met a lot of them. Good times.

Evening all. Not a lot going on today. just a kick back day. Took my walk ( started that when I entered the Hospital kinda enjoy it) doing about 1-2 miles a day just walking at a leasurly pace. counted my steps and was about 750 +/- up my street and back so thats a good amount need to figure out how far I'm actually walking.
Bought a couple of trains last last night or should say sets of trains, Will give me something to play with when they come in.

Busy work day with 4 hrs of conference calls. Helped daughter this evening with moving our old tv room sofa set to her apartment. Frees up some space here. Bought a new sofa set for living room as our Christmas present to ourselves. Son took the old living room sofa set to his apartment. SWMBO is pleased.

Oldest Princess has stored all the boy's Santa stash here, and Wifey has it stacked in our bedroom, so now I have to keep the boy out of the upstairs.
Got the lights up and running last night. Wifey loves her new Gingerbread in cocoa mug. Still not finished North Pole, although working some magic with a few old roles of computer multi-wires. Did pick up a few Dept 56 buildings at the Greenberg Show.

Jim - yup, that's how southern AZ came to be in the US. Bought mainly for the southern transcon railroad, which didn't actually happen until about 34 years later.
Kev - nice bike! I've heard Triumph motorcycles are pretty good. As a former MG owner, I'm not supposed to like their cars though:)
Was looking for tires last night on line. Going to just have to go down and talk to the guys at discount. When your dealing w/ 14" rims and class D rated tires, your options get kinda narrow. I thinking of replacing the two rear tires on the Corvan and then using what's there for the coupe. The tires don't have much wear on them, but they sat for a while and are a bit weather checked. The van is rated @ 3/4 ton and the rear tires have a lot of the curb weight, hence the load rating.

Aloha. Much warmer today. Still no ice on Lake MI. Any day you get to run trains is a good day. I ran Ivor last night to see what part of the layout trackage I have to clean the most. I use elbow grease and a clean cloth to go over everything. What do you use? I'll get to take the L to a meeting at our main campus which I always enjoy.

Was good seeing Ray this past weekend at the train show.
Doug, what I have found that works well with track is a "palm sander" and Scotch Brite. The pads fit perfectly. I was concerned it would be too abrasive, but it doesn't seem to be. I do NOT apply ANY pressure and gently guide the sander down the rails somewhat quickly, not fast, but don't let it set in one place. I've done this for the past year, usually every 6 months. (using Ross/Gargraves) Care when crossing switches.
Got to get busy need to service pool filter and do some work on the canister.

Doug I just use drug store rubbing alcohol on a rag. Have done it this way for years. Dries too fast to cause rust. Of course track crud needs a little scrubbing.

Back from Rock Island, was a nice ride and the guy at the chrome shop seems okay.
46 and cloudy. Neighbor came along for the ride and we had a nice lunch on the way home.
Doug, I have good luck with a Scotch Brite pad sprayed with CRC QD elect cleaner the plastic safe stuff. No effort required.

It was really foggy going home this morning but got up into the mid 50's and sunny by 1:30 pm when I got up. I finished the outside lights as the weather was really nice. I've got them all on timers for the first time, makes it sooo easy, maybe I'm getting lazy.
RT-We graduated the same year!
Doug-When I had the layout I used Scotch Brite pads and alcohol (on the pad).
Fife- Had to move the Christmas presents as the kids are older now. We lock the presents in the truck bed under the hard retractable bedcover.

Cloudy and a cool 37 heading to 44. I need to see if Jim wants to do those two loads of gravel. Going to hit mid 50s tomorrow and Friday but rain is called for on Friday. So we had better do it asap. I need to take off the snow plow and ballast box and install the bucket and grader first.

Aloha. Warmer and Sunnier today. Might be the last I come into the office for 2015 if I can manage my vacation right - I'm very restricted about what I can roll over but also restricted about what I can take/ when. Ah well. The youngest's band concert went well last eve. It lasted just about as long as I could stand to sit on the wooden gym bleachers. Thanks for the ideas about track cleaning!

Prepping the begginning of my scenery build on the layout. Hoping to get busy on that next week. I'll be sure not to make too much of a mess though.. have to keep the lines clear for the Polar Express on Christmas Eve.

Well I took yesterday off to get stuff done around the house. Moved 3/4 cord of wood, got the rest of the available lights on the bushes, and some other smaller odds and ends. About lunchtime I took the PostWar ZW I received last summer from a coworker to the LTS for service. I had never seen on like this as it has the '275 Watts' on the backplate and the top rondel is just the Lionel "L" with the blue and orange. Apparently this is a late model ZW, and a very good 'freebie'. So hope to get her back tomorrow or Friday, then we can put up the tree and get the trains running.Fife - called you Saturday when we left the show but you didn't answer. I will get the lens in the mail when I got to the LTS to pick up the ZW.

Christmas dinner tonight with group from church. Went to foot doctor this morning for our ingrowing toe nails. Done for the week with doctors I hope.
Warmer today but cooler weather called for later in week with "a shower" on Friday they say.
Been giving more thought to using a vendor who will buy my entire collection when the time comes. Friend of mine is about to do the same with his after hauling stuff to beaucue train meets and two Cal Stewarts. He says he still has a lot left.
Found a place that will try to fix my recliner. Coming Friday to look at it.
Our live in son is going to Oregon Friday to visit a friend and will not be home most of next week after returning to Socal. We will only see him for a day or two between now and Christmas. He's in love!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch I declined service for myself from home care company after consulting with my primary doctor because it would not be honest but will accept care for wife until she heals up from surgery.

That's an early 275W. The 250W had the two nameplates like that too, and I've got one here with a 3-48 date on the box.
Later the 275 had a single large nameplate glued to the top of the case, and from 1955 or so it was riveted to the case.

Spent the day packing up the remnants of the goodies from the BetterHalf's group fundraiser so it can go back to their storage unit. I have my garage back ! Now I can start on the Christmas layout for our Christmas Eve display.
Last week's unplanned visit to my primary care doc and her med changes didn't help much, cardiologist called for me to come in to see him this Friday. We'll see what his thoughts are.
Glad to hear that RT is doing well, even if he ain't behavin'.
Buckeye , Thanks for the new photo, the old one in the garage is looking real bad and lost some it's ability to scare away mice.

Busy but good day at work. Watched Arrow tonight. Really really mad at the story lines. If they ever eliminate the one character that makes the show worth watching, I am done with it. Was supposed to practice with the high school kids tonight. I showed up and the gym was dark. I really was too tired and did not feel like going so I did not feel too bad, but at least I made the effort...... I hope everyone has a good day.
Had a decent nights sleep for once...a few hours..tops. reason? Dang chemotherapy left me with insomnia ...
Have some sun and cloud coming today. High of 50 forecast.
Got some runnin' 'roun' doin' stuff to do today...gonna be a busy day...
