Bob and Doug Murphy, thanks for the hints on things to alarm the door.  I'll check it out.

Had a trying night with her. She was unsettled at bed time and made me worry that she might try to go out again.  I put the inside lock on the door but had to remove it before morning so my son could go to work.  I had trouble falling asleep and probably got less than an hour or so all night.  This system is only temporary.  Makes me too nervous to sleep.  I also checked on some care giver places this morning to get some daytime help so I can go places.  Not cheap but might be worth it.

Aloha. It is grey and cold this week in Chicago. The youngest had his first day of school today - for some reason he was very nervous. It didn't help that the bus didn't show up. So I drove him and was a bit late for work. I'll call in on the bus.

Ray, we used the alarm thingie that Bob listed on the going-out doors when my father lived with us. I put base-locks on the sliding doors too and covers on all the knobs for the gas range. The alarm worked perfectly -- all the time the door was used. As he still liked to stroll outside without us, I ended up putting a slide bolt on the door above his reach. It was enough to distract him into doing something else.

Morning all.  Went to the farms yesterday early.  Sowed deer food plots.  Got back late.  Used neighbor's tractor and that made it better.  Still work.

Ray, prayers for your situation.  Tough.

Hope all are OK.

Got to run.  MRI this morning.

Later.

Good evening all,

Work was ok today.  First game of fall season was 3-1 loss, but I did have 2 good touches until I did something stupid with my leg again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all!

All things considered a good day today. Among other things the Polaris pool cleaner/sweeper was limping. Took it out and tore it down and a bearing had come apart. I had a spare bearing and all is good. I have been lucky with this one. Around 15 years old and all plastic. Assumed after the last repair about 5 years ago the plastic would disintegrate from being in pool chorinated water for 15 years but it was solid. Happy about that as these things cost $500-700. Put new tires on it as well. Only out about $35.

Argh - they are letting us water the lawns here twice a week now there is water in the lakes plus I have soaker hoses around the foundation. Ay-yi-yi - got the July-August water bill today...ack...choke...cough...cough...coulda bought a nice new pool pump...

Ray - you bet - continued prayers for you and your wife.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Guys, thank you for your expression of concern and prayers for the wife and me.  I was reluctant to post this kind of stuff here but I feel that I almost know some of you and I have met some.  Everything is going along OK today in that department but I think I should get some kind of alarm system to alert me when the front door opens instead of a padlock in case of fire.

Seems humid here today.  I was working up a sweat just doing light housework this morning.

Still waiting for a refund to cover repairs by Verizon from my painter who agreed to pay.  Still have not received payment after three weeks.  Put in call this morning.  No more nice guy from me.

Glad to hear the puppy is comfortable.

Went to a TCA meet last Saturday.  Someone had a prewar O gauge passenger train running with modern sounds and smoke.  Interesting but not authentic.  Kind of neat though.

Most of the local hardware stores sell a unit that attaches to a door that either chimes or sets off an alarm. They are usually battery operated and fairly easy to install

Ray - hopefully thing will work out. My MIL had dementia and she was a handful. My exwife took care of her as she wanted no part of me. It was tough until we sent her to the Catholic Charities home where she was well cared for until her death. God will have everything under control.

An October morn.

Cloudy and cool today. The plants will take notice and start to change even though it will get warm again. No train news except for some work on a friends new modular layout.............S.J.

Good, morning,

Another cool one on the Bluff today with lots of sun. So cold last night the cat decided to stay in the house.
Got the IM Brent, thanks and prayers for Christina.  Angel
Bob, nice project you got there. I have found that soaking the cylinders in Marvel Mystery Oil will free up stuck pistons but I don’t know how that works on horizontal cylinders. You may have to put the Corvair on it’s side. Laugh
Fife I do see you can get CRC 2-26 on line. Amazon has it in an 11 oz Can. For $5.67 You can also order it from HD.
I watched Grave Yard Cars last night and they were rebuilding a 1970 SuperBee. Thought of Rich.  Automobile
Auto racing will always have accidents, part of the sport. Sure way better today than in the old days. Sad about JW.
Well better move on.
Have a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Grandson duty today.  Not sure what I'll accomplish.

cheapclassics - I was watching Pocono.  Knew something was very wrong, right away.

submmbob - Like the ol' gal in the VW ad, you prefer 'em with "Mmaaaaannneee miles..." Laugh

KRM - funny, since I mentioned it, I can't find the 2-26 anywhere around my parts.

Hello all

Been a while since I checked in, so I just caught up on August.

Brent - hope you find a new job soon and thoughts and prayers for Christina

Kev - belated happy birthday!

SPRay - thoughts and prayers for your wife

V8 - nice score on the car!

We are still in summer maintenance mode, so I'm working 4 days on/3 off right now until late Sept. probably.

We are making good progress on the trolley. The outside painting is nearly complete and we are close to moving it under it's own power for the first time. My current project is coming up w/ air acuators for the sanders.

On the model train front not much is new except I got another Japanese N-gauge trolley. This one is a snowplow.

On the Corvair front, the van is nearly road-ready for full time use. This weekend we will install a new dual-circuit master cylinder and go thru the front brakes.

I also ended up w/ a '63 Monza Coupe that a couple of guys in the club bought to part out. We went to Page, AZ to pick up two cars (the other a '61 Lakewood wagon) and halfway to Flagstaff on the way back I convinced them to sell it to me. The fenders have been cut out and it was used as a dune buggy for a number of years. The car is fairly soild but will need a lot of work. I really like the look of the cut out fenders and bigger tires. It also has a later model front end and van axles so all the rims are now 5 bolt. And a 102HP engine under the hood which we are currently trying to un-stick.

Once I get the van fully road worthy, I will prob sell off the '65 four door. If the 102 has to come apart, I will finish the original van engine rebuild/upgrade and then put the '66 car engine that is in the van in the '63 coupe.

Needless to say, all this is keeping out of trouble:)

Late evening all,

Thanks for all the kind thoughts for our pup. She is hanging in there. No telling how long this will last, but so far she seems pretty happy/comfortable.

Ray - Angel for your wife and you.

The new Discovery show Cuban Chrome is fun to watch.

Mike - sad news about Justin Wilson. Saw there is revived discussion about some sort of cover or "canopy" for Indycar.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Good evening all,

Fairly good day at work except for one person.   Weather is very nice.   Some progress made on house, just not what we expected.   I got the Victory drinks to "my" soccer girls.   I started my sessions with my soccer "student", which went well.   SP, my thoughts and prayers go out to you.  Went down that road with mother-in-law many years ago.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good afternoon all,

Had another scare this morning.  Neighbor across the street told me that my wife came over there last night saying there were strangers in her house.  The stranger was me. She forgot who I was I guess.  I did not even know she went out.  My son and I were both home but cold meds must have knocked me out.  Anyway, neighbor's wife brought her back but I did not find out about it until she saw me watering the yard this morning. This is the second time it has happened.  I got a padlock for the front door that I can lock on the inside and put a wood stick in the sliding glass door track at the back of the house.  I will have to be more vigilent from now on.  Also will order I.D. bracelet for her in case she gets lost.  Need to relay these developments to her doctor.

After seeing the results of a steering wheel column through the chest of a fellow soldier I have no desire to ever 'document' a crash scene again, nor can I understand people's desire to witness such.

All - I was asked not to share Christina's updates on the forum. I sent an email to as many of you as I could remember email addresses for, if you did not receive the update and are concerned, feel free to IM me - or send me an email.

Doug - trains are one of the reasons Fife is moving West. Wink

I'm 60, was in Raceway Park's top ten 4 years running plus once more in the

'80's.  Made the Division 1 bracket Finals 3 times.  Lots of history for me at the 'Park....

Went to the Mopar show and there wasn't a whole lot going on, did meet up with 3 people I know and I guy gave me more information on my front end issue.  We'll see....

Static on the house, will most likely withdraw the offer today or tomorrow, finish the car and then see whats up.

Sorry about your dog, Roy...

Get better soon, Ray...

back at it!

Doug DG Good Idea, you got part numbers for those figures??

Fife, I hear you on the cell-phone picture takers. I bet you don't miss that.

I got some of that CRC 2-26 you were talking about to day and will be trying it out soon. I think I will like the stuff. Only one place around here had it. I had to go to HD 23 miles away to find it.

KRM - News crews were never that big a deal on a scene.  Only recall one bad experience in 3 decades.  Now, the LOOKIE-LEWS, they drove me crazy.  Especially the parents that wanted to walk right up to the sheet covering the deceased, toddlers in hand, wanting to snap a cell-phone pic.

Don't miss the job one bit...

A very nice cool dry day on the North Bluff. Would be a good day to do some yard work if I felt like it. But I don't.

Stock market????????? Ick! who talked me into it? Angry

Doug. all is well on the layout. I should get a 1/43rd scale ambulance for these occasions.

Well have a good day!

Aloha from a pleasant looking Monday in downtown Chicago where i can hear the squeals from the Board of Trade already this morning. Roy, I'm sorry about your dog. Kev, that sounds like quite a wreck on the layout. I hope you have a contract with Herzog for clean-up. Fife, I looked up trains in WV for you to ride with Buckeye. It looks like there are quite a few lines to enjoy within a few hundred miles or so. Wink MikeC, that sure was nice of Tony to lend his plane for Justin's family. What a tragedy!

I'm still living without a cell phone for a few more days. I think I could get used to this except for missing work emails and calls and texts. Hmmm, why did I want another one again?

Mornin' boys.  Humid and 71 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Back to school for last princess today.  She was so excited, she woke up at 0430.  First day of high school.

My doggie issues are well chronicled here.  Best wishes to Roy and his family.
