got a notification that Don Baker joined LinkedIn. I wasn't sure it was OUR Don, do I didn't accept the invitation. I did NOT, repeat, did NOT get an email from Don's email address, it was directly from LinkedIn because Don and I have conversed via gmail and my gmail account is connected to Facebook, LinkedIn, and a few other sites.

Yep, unfortunately that was me!  Didn't realize what would happen until I clicked one button.  Then it took EVERY email address I have and sent them that request.  I really apologize for the intrusion, I don't mind connecting, but don't like their method.

Hello Coffeepot Friends

Long time since I've posted. Had two great days at York. Met up with LAZ, Roy, JohnF, Fife, Buckeye, Banks, and some others whose names I cannot recall, for the perfunctory group photo.  Rumor had that Chief was to arrive near dinner time. Hoping the photo will be posted soon.

Found a Std. Gauge MTH Western Maryland Cattle car. Also bought a CNJ Cameback Loco. It is command control, but I only run conventional.  Might want to look into TMCC at some point.

Take care,

Mitch

I received one from Don Bakers email address, before he posted about it here. So when I inquired he advised me not to link up with it.

Thank you Don

Not much news from York yet. I guess most spent the evening dining like the Chief. Well not exactly though, they have to pay for their meals.Big Smile

What is a little north of Toronto?  Richmond Hill had a sign that said Toronto's highest and healthiest  suburb  back in the 1940,s.  The street car came  out to  R.H. , it was the end of the line, before that it went to Keswick and on to Sutton where it would deliver passengers or freight back to Toronto.  In those days   the only train show was at Bob's Trains on Mount Pleasant Rd. or Eaton's or Simpson's.  I remember talking  Bob into selling  me used Lionel latch couplar cars  that he had got on a trade..        Graeme

Good evening all,

Just to make the Chief happy, I am glad to report the US Women's National Team in that all-American sport soccer won their first match in the World Cup qualifying rounds 1-0 over Trinidad and Tobago the other night.  Quiet day at work.  Got my ears lowered at home by "the saucy wench".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Getting ready to travel to G'burg PA.  Sister-IL and Great Niece are staying in OUR room too. Angry  Sister-IL forgot to reserve a room. [as usual].  Can't understand why, out of three girls, my wife got all the brains [well, sort of. all are blondes].  I think when they were giving out brains in Heaven, my two Sister-IL's thought they said "trains".  They jumped on board and left town. Laugh  Also, now I have to go and pickup Great Niece [a few miles away] and then drive up near Richmond VA.  Pickup up Sister-IL.  This trip is going to be a ZOO.

Ray, didn't get a single bar-b-qed chicken leg. Dinner

Doug W, office computer had done the same.  Had to go to compatibility and click on it.

Calling Banks' cell.

Good night.

Howdy All !

Been fighting with this blankety-blank software for a few days. Did a microsoft update and it seems that neither McAfee nor Windows Defender liked them, created lots of headaches removing/reinstalling, etc etc etc. Microsoft's error code support sucks.

Don, If your new glasses make you look like Mr Magoo just look on the bright side, you now have your Halloween costume. Laugh

Dennis, That's a LOT of chicken. Chef

Regarding oil changes, I buy a apckage deal at my local Nissan dealer. It breaks down to about $20 ea as well as topping off any fluids etc plus a car wash. Thumbs Up

Sure wish we could get some of that rain out here, dry as a popcorn fart.

The museum is having a "Halloween Spooktacular" on the 26th, nobody had signed up so the regular Friday crew has volunteered and even talked our spouses to come in as well, if all goes well we will all be in costume as well as running the our halloween trains. Should be fun ! The best part is loading up all the Tric-R-Treaters with sugar and sending them home. Smile, Wink & Grin  Ashamed

Safe travels to all the Yorkies, hope the weather co-operates.

A belated Happy B-Day to Ray.

Later all !

Gloomy and 55 this morning.

A lot of leaves fell overnight, we don't have trees but our neighbors share their leaves with us.

Hope the Yorkies have a good hunt and a safe trip.

Kev/Don here at dealership Its like $55 but it includes tire rotation also and fluids like I'm sure yours do on the fluid part. I haven't looked at Goodyear or Firestone website for coupons in a while may have to do that next time I need oil changed dealer here sets mine for like every 5000 I think. it's 5 or 7 thousand I know that. And they do use the oil for over 75,000 miles on my truck.

Not much planned for today guys wanted to stop in and say hi and hope all you going to York have a good time. Talk to you all later

Rain is gone, cold is back,Basement floor is dry.

To you Yokers, have a save trip.

Bruce, yes please don't say the S word. Ther used to be a guy here that lived up your way in London. He used the name Blown Out Cylinder or BOC but he has not posted in a very long time. I know he was fighting the BIG C. Sad

Don, Here at the dealer, regular oil change is $45. Full synthetic is $65 and that is at the GM dealership.

Have a good day!

Good to get report from Mike C.  Seems no un-American sport report. Whistling

No restaurant been mentioned to gather tomorrow night so guess I will skip that.

Good evening all,

Another quiet day at work.  Picked up PT Cruiser tonight.  NIce to have cruise control.  Scored a nicer SF caboose tonight at local hobby store.   Watched Arrow and Flash tonight.   Both were good.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Kev,

I live a little north of Toronto.  I suppose I should be thankful it's only rain as I recall Buffalo getting hit with 12" of the four letter "S" word on this upcoming weekend a few years ago.  Stuck at home here too but maybe it's for the best.  York to me would be like setting John Pinette loose at the all you can eat buffet.  Sour grapes...yeah, that'll work!

Don,

Seen what a barrel of oil goes for on the market lately?  Maybe it's time we consumers started demanding a comparable reduction in prices from them greaseballs.

Good Evening,

OK, all you arm chair mechanics, have a question.  Went to get the oil changed today and was somewhat surprised.  Normally, pay about $23 for Oil, Filter, Lube, Air and Check-out.  However my mechanic retired.  So decided on an new place.

First one wanted $46, and needed about 2.5 hours.  (Obviously he didn't want to do it.)

Second place, No office, just 2 bay garage, want you to line up at one of the bays, stay in your car, then drive forward when told.  Stay in car entire time.  I screwed up parked car and walked (hobbled) to what was the office. Asked how much is a oil change?  Told your option $39, $59, or $89.  HUH ????   $39 is regular oil change, $59 is enhanced, $89 top of the line.  It was like pulling teeth to find out what the REAL difference is.  The 59 is for cars with MORE than 75k miles.  It is a partial synthetic oil, the 89 is all synthetic.  When I asked about advantages they didn't know crap.  I was expecting to hear that it was a lifetime guantee oil change, but they didn't go that far.  So come home and got a coupon from Firestone for $21.99 !  So going to Firestone tomorrow am.

Good luck to all you Yorksters.

Hi Bruce, Rain, same here. Where are you?

I did the same today. I just came up from the layout and about an hour of run time and three beers. I can't do York so I just decided to enjoy what I have. Worked out a few issues but ran more than I fiddled. Just happy I got the water leak fixed on the hot water heater. Smile, Wink & Grin

SJ just had a basement water leakage problem fixed.

Fife, Is the 6 cyl the 3.7?? Good engine, same as my 4.7 with two cyl hacked off.

Still hard on gas but I never had any engine issues with the 4.7 with over 168K. Big Smile

Good evening all,

Happy belated birthday to Ray.

Rain, rain and more rain.  Figures too...they just started working on replacing the east wall of our basement.  After years of water leakage the block had turned into a crumbling mess.  You could poke holes in it with a stick.  I'm looking forward to having a dry spot that eventually will be a workshop once the furnace is moved.

Took a breather on train repairs to enjoy some running time, although I did tend to one layout problem.  The rope lighting which adds a theater like atmosphere in the den needed replacing.  So I got busy.

I test drove the HEMI in the Durango.  Did not like it at all, especially the way it bogs down when you step off the accelerator.  Went with the 6.

Our day of rain is behind us now. We have sun and 60 degrees.

Some maintenance work in the basement forced me to clear some things out of the way but it turned out ok as I put things back it all looks clean and neat now.

Good evening all,

Just a late night shot at the forum.  I took my wife to the accupunture doctor this morning.  Procedure went well.  She stayed pain free for most of the day but it started coming back tonight after we went out to eat.  He wants her to come back every day this week for treatments and then will determine what the long range plan is.  I hope it does her some good.

Invited our friend from church to eat with us tonight reluctantly but it went OK.  He is trying to talk me into joining some discussion group that meets once a week at church but told him it was not my thing.  Then he wanted to know why at which point I was getting a little irritated.  Finally told him that I can't leave my wife alone now and that she does'nt want to go to meetings either.  He means well but he just doesn't understand yet that my life has changed since I have become a care giver.  I'm just not free to jump all over the place anymore.  He ought to know that. (Thick headed I guess).

Weather finally cooling off a little.  I'm glad.  Cool nights and dark mornings make for good sleeping.  However, some yea hoo next door was dragging trash cans out to the curb this morning before daylight right near my bedroom window.  Thanks a lot!

The new light rail Gold Line extension from Pasadena to Azusa/Glendora has scheduled a ceremony this coming Saturday for the completion of the track.  Might go if I get a chance.  They don't drive a last spike anymore.  Nowadays they use rail clamps called E clamps so the last piece of hardware will be one of those.  They will start making test runs over the track in the coming months and service to begin next year.

later,

Ray

P.S. Fifedog et al, thanks for the birthday greeting.
