With KRM on the SS gravy train with the Chief, I better see about getting a second job.  Sigh

I was out in Eastern Ohio today.  I have never seen so many railroad tank cars parked in every little siding waiting to be filled.  The Zanesville Yard, long dead,  looked like it had new tracks.  I can't wait to tell OPEC to go pound sand.  A friend of mine just received his lease check for his small family 100 acre farm.  He only got $5,000 per acre for the mineral rights lease.  The watershed district board of directors just cut my assessment in half due to the oil leases.

Looking forward to my trip east in two weeks.

Mornin' boys.  Happy Fall, Y'all!  60 and a little hazy in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Very busy @ work last night; lots o' knuckleheads.  Too many 47-percenters crammed into one region...  Our O's take on Granny's Tigers tomorrow.  We planted orange pansies to bring them luck.  Smile  Unfortunately, our Olympic hero has self-destructed; again. I kinda like my wife! Big Smile She is a born and raised, die-hard in the blood, Baltimoron. I have looked online at properties in those areas and we could really build something nice with some awesome acreage.

We are at least 5 years from even considering building a home, so a lot can change in that time frame. Heck when we were in FL for her conference on the 19th she was offered a job in Orlando! Neither of us could take the humidity so that isn't happening... but if she ever speaks in AZ and is offered a job I know where we'll be living!

Thanks Buckeye! Do you got time for another Job?? Surprise

Well today is the first day of don't go into the woods without orange on.  Wink  Funny, I pulled out to go to the bank and mom and her twin fawns were standing in the yard. I think they know today is opening season. I just did a drive around on the Gator to check for poachers on the west line.

Enjoy the day!

Good afternoon all,

Took Honda in for oil change this morning and came out with a $400 bill.  Things that needed replacement etc. Red warning light turned out to be a bad sensor and was a false reading.  Brake pads are OK.  Needed some new bushings under car but none in stock.  Had to leave the car until tomorrow.  They will get parts tonight.  They did give me a rental car free.

V8, saw the story about plastic bags but will not take effect here until next year sometime.  I never get bags anyway at places like Costco.  Just keep a box in my trunk and transfer everything from shopping cart to that.  Heck, I would need too many of those for sale bags to carry all my weekly shopping in.

Finally started doing a battery charge on my new portable oxygen concentrator which I've had for several months.  Haven't needed it for trips yet because I haven't been anywhere since wife started having problems.  Anyway, battery has to be recharged or will go dead.

later,

Ray

Good evening all, Frank called about a month ago to check on me. At the time, I still did not know what the situation was. Now, it looks better. Finally got blood sugar under 200 and blood pressure down to 150 over 88. Not great, but much better than what it was. Giving up the chocolate and Cokes is pure misery. I will adjust...sort of. "My" soccer girls are one day and one game away from a winning season, the first since the Norwegian played. My fall league has been marred by postponements, but the team may be a good one as we are 1-1. Scored a Grand Central Express set from Train Express at a good price. Shelves are getting bare there. It is good to see some familiar faces back, and I will try to post again on a regular basis. I hope everyone has a good day. Keep on training, Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all!

What?  When?  It's October?  Drat!  I must miss the Hershey flea market this year due to health issues.  Where will I spend all this green stuff?Question

But then again, bring on the train shows!  Will my Neil Young FOM add on set arrive soon?  Maybe a Saturday trip to NY or MI is in order?

So many questions...so little patience.

Prayers to all who need them.

WOO HOO !!! Mike is back. Glad to see you back. if you ever went in and read what all posted after your last you will know how much you mean to us. I had to give up my diet pepsi as I learned the hard way that sugar is sugar is sugar even the flavored water affects me and the crystal light type products I'm like 99.9% water now days maybe once a week I will have one  diet pepsi if that. normally just water its hard. I bought back around last christmas some hard candy in a seal-able glass jar and I will have one of those in the evening as my snack there fruit flavor and it works.

Glad to hear about the soccer girls doing so well. Take care Mike and keep us updated.

Evening all been a busy day here today. And tomorrow looks like it will be also. for first part anyway.

Need to look at my brakes tomorrow or friday and see how they look getting some kind of warning but they looked fine about 6 months ago and I mean close to new so need to see if maybe its something acting up from when it was vandalized back about 6 months ago. always felt they didn't get something right.

Anyway hope all had a good day about time to call it a night talk to you all later

Welcome back Mike!  I wouldn't be a bit surprised if at least 70% of the guys here are fighting the ACL, BP, and other issues.  Me too.

Been working on the Chiefs upgrades, got one running, but have to decide on what I'm going to do.......  (space problems)

- Board set stacks too high, guess I will have to elevate the body.  Make it look like one of the big trucks with the body raised about 4' above the ground.

- Second issue is the speaker not enough room, so since the body is going to be elevated, might as well use two speakers, one on each side of the hood.

As a result I might have to extend the stack a little, but its been very dry here and havn't  popped much corn.  Some would say its drier than a "poppcorn flart".

Later, and stay healthy!

Mornin All.

Mother Nature will be turning up the heat starting today. SDG&E will be counting the profits again. Grumpy Got the AC fixed just in time, 100+* expected for the next several days.

Been kinda dopey for a few days, more so than normal, dentist pulled a wisdom tooth, feel dumber already, and it took awhile. Thought he was going to have to resort to blasting powder but eventually it came out.

Really glad to see Mike is back. WowYeah Most of us are in the same boat, personally I get really tired of keeping the pharmaceutical companies going with all the pills I have to take but it sure beats the alternative.

Well gotta get to work, one of my favorite LeMax halloween buildings (Monster Ball) is having some problems. Going to try to repair it. Got all kinds of stuff all over the garage in variuos stages of preparation. need to really get my butt in gear, this is going to be a very busy month. 10# in 5# bag month.

Posted a Heads Up regarding Hobby Station.

Later all !

Hey!! Hi Mike!! Good to see you!! Awaiting my 6 car gondola set from my forum group. I believe its all B&A livery. Sent out my NYC MTH Switcher out as its buzzing....runs fine, sounds...eh. Whatta want for $25?....lol!!! Picked up my MTH Fire House. Kept it in the shipping box for now. Really want to get it up and running, just no room. Kicked the cold and it seems like its coming back....go figure. One of my mentors passed away last Friday, looks like a diabetes issue. A very young 74....so active and alive just a few days ago. Fife and Brent - If all goes to plan - will be in Walkersville, MD on the 11th. The Red Helmet Ride to Emmitsburg, MD for the Fallen Firefighters Weekend. As long as the weather holds up....'cuz I'll be on my Road Star. That's all from Central Jersey.....

Good evening all,

Had a scare this afternoon with oldest son.  He was at work and thought the was having a heart attack.  He was admitted to UCLA Medical Center emergency room and stayed there all afternoon.  All test were negative.  They thought he was probably dehydrated and exausted.  He has been working a lot of 12 hour days and has a killer drive every day.  Not surprising that he got the tilt sign.  Very grateful that he is OK.  They said he was OK to drive home.  I told him to take the rest of the week off at a minimum.

Got my car back this afternoon and all is well with that.  Picked up a new skimmer for the swimming pool on the way home.  Temp in the garage right now is 104.  Pool is probably 78.  Hot few days ahead and I thought summer was over.

later,

Ray

Good evening all, It has been 16 years since "my" soccer girls have had a winning record. Tonight's win clinched no worse than an 8-7-1 season with one to play. I had a game of my own, but there will be a moment next week to recognize what they accomplished. in my game, we played shorthanded and lost 5-2. I was all over the field and kept going for the full 50 minutes. Thank you all for the warm welcome back. Checked the blood sugar before the game and it was 120. Splurged a bit with a personal pan pizza from the Hut, but I thought it was merited. I hope everyone has a good day. Keep on training, Mike C. from Indiana

Mike just keep in mind you do deserve treats here and there so yes your doing great. I'm lucky I'm only on pills but I still have to be careful and I can't get it thru my thick head that all soda is, is flavored water but I refuse to pay $1.60 and up for a bottle of water no bigger than a coke bottle lol. Guess it comes from growing up it was free everywhere and still is at home. Even some restaurants.

What I couldn't comprehend for the longest time the diet pepsi or flavored water even thou it had substitute for sweetener your body still reacts to the same as sugar so there really no sense in using it. It's a false as far as Blood Sugar goes.

What really kills me is I'm actually a scratch baker by trade and now can't even really do it at home.

Glad to hear about your soccer girls and how well they did this season.

Hey all not a lot going on today did some more running around. That was about it thou.

Hope all had a good day

Calling for thunder storms around here tomorrow

Saturday Wife and I are going on a Caboose ride at local train museum its a 40 minute ride round trip so that's cool. Not bad at all if you ask me.

All take care talk to you all later

Evening all!

It has been a while since my last post. Things just get busy.

Buckeye - you need to look at some 3rd shift positions - I filed for SS last week to start Jan 1st. This may change based on the job situation.

Mike C - welcome back!

York is in a couple of weeks Thumbs Up

Weather cooling a bit. Had a little rain today.

Working on installing ERR TMCC and Railsounds into a 3rd Rail NYC 0-4-0 tank loco I picked up at York in the spring.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Good evening all,

Mike C, Welcome back.  Glad to see you posting again.  I was diagnosed recently with diabetes but so far am just on diet and excercise.  Have cut out sodas a long time ago but I still have to watch out for sweetened fruit juices.  They have sugar too.  I've been drinking a lot of decafinated tea lately with artificial sweetner.  Sounds like that's bad too.  Have to check it out.

My son got home tonight without incident after spending the afternoon in ER.  We are all glad that he is back in his  home again.  I told him to do a follow  up with his primary care physician.

Good night all,

Ray

Mornin' boys.  And, a special good mornin' to our "Lost" boys. Smile, Wink & Grin  Pleasant 54 in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Start my vacation today.  NS was nice enough to send me off last night, with 8103 (Norfolk & Western) on an empty hopper train, and 1069 (Virginian) on an intermodal, both northbound from Baltimore.  It was super quiet county-wide because of the playoff game starting at 5.

cheapclassics - When everything is swirling around us, the only thing we truly have control of, is ourselves.  People need you, so do as you should.

Roy - YORK!  Was just thinking the same.  I will be hunting for an 1882, either original or reissue.

anjdevil - Wifey and I will be kinda in the same area on the 11th, but headed over the Potomac.

Banks - How is the foliage?

It made me happy seeing our old faces this month.  Still, I think of some of our other mia's.

Good Evening,

Had a good day today!  We had to get a new credit card processing terminal, due to the new security chips being added to CC's.  As of 2015, March I think, if you are not using the new terminals.  Then the merchant becomes liable for any security issues that the customer may have as a result of the equipment the merchant is using.  Anyway, our CC processing service of course sells the new terminals for $490.  Thought was just going to have to pay it.  However, I found a company I could get the same maching for $239 !!  Received it today, hooked it up, software downloaded, and it is all running great!

DougDG,  Why are they "wisdom" teeth?  Looking forward to see some pictures of your halloween efforts.

Banks,  Don't know just where, but I did see a post from Laz, he was doing well.

SP Ray,  Really glad to hear your son is OK!  That's scarey especially with the heat.  Certainly can understand you not out in your train room recently, even I have avoid mine, due to the heat.  I will see if Bob is back from vacation yet, then "maybe" might see you at TTOS Sunday.

Anjdevil2,  With all the activities you got going, can understand why your cold came back.  Think you need some rest.  Envy you guys with those "country drives" available to you all.  Sure beats the concrete jungle.

Mike,  With your activity level in soccer, surprised your blood sugar is that high.  I sure have noticed a difference in mine since I've been laid up with my leg, as opposed to the activity level I had earlier.  Did you count how many of us are taking the meds.  I didn't but sure it is a high percentage.

RT, The caboose trip sure sounds great, what kind of a caboose, hopefully one with a copula.   Chief may be contacting you for some electro couplers from ER.  He wants to incorporate them in the engines I'm upgrading.  Post some pictures of your ride.

Roy,  Congrats on the SS, however you cant jump ahead and get the allotment from Buckeye at MY expense!  He's been contributing to mine for over a year.  I would suggest tapping Bob Kellar.  Talked with George the other day, which was good.  Just send me the bill and I will buy you and John lunch at York.  I've been installing a ER upgrade in a couple of K-Line switchers for the chief.  Just not enough room, think I'll put a pair of speakers on the front of the engine, one on each side of the hood.  Hope your family is well!

Fifedog,  Are you moving?  Been confused about that.  Hope Fifepup doing well with his driving, we had our issues out here as well.  I think 3 was the magic number.

Oh Yeah, talked with Chief.  Frankie doing well after surgery.  Concern Chief may have picked up pneumonia, he's not certain.  Definitely needs rest, was on his way back home today.

Train News;  Been working on the Chief's stuff, going OK but started over 3 times, trying to get everything to fit.  But it works anyway.

Have a question, have an older TMCC diesel.  And no matter what I do have to have the remote DCS, Cab2, up to 13mph, BEFORE it will move!  All the features work well, no other problems.  Any ideas will be appreciated.

Need to get going dinner ready.  Have a great weekend !  And STAY HEALTHY !
