HEY, can't someone start a new Pot?  Nice to wait on me.  Probably everyone except Joe is asleep.

Left early for the farms.  Tired.  Walked miles around fields and in the woods.  Buddy with 4 wheeler and disk came.  Sowed new winter food plots.  Moved stands to new and hopefully better locations.

Did not get to mow yesterday so did that late this afternoon just before dark.

Ate late supper and then reclinerized.

Prayers for Banks' buddy.  Prayers for Ray's wife.

Off to bed.  Sleep tight.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill.........

Good Morning,  Joe.

It is a gloomy and humid 72 degrees. Going up to 82 today with a chance of rain. This has been a rainy summer.

Today is an easy day. A few chores and then I will spend a few hours running trains. I need to relax and enjoy them. I need to get a nice track cleaning car, to get the places I can't reach.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Good Sunday Afternoon All!

A lot has been going on, mostly work related. Otherwise all is well.

Cool Hand Luke was a GREAT movie!

Fife - I know some guys put themselves on the line day to day. It's always a shock when someone you know gave all. Very sad.

JoeD - Even though we have been playing well, and now only one team in front of us for the wild card, it's still going to be tough. One game at a time. (check out SPF)

Banks - Continued prayers sent.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday.

Later......

Good morning all,

Just learned on another forum that a good friend of mine and former Road Foreman of Engines and manager of the locomotive simulator for the Southern Pacific Railroad has retired effective today after 45 years of service.  He served as a company officer for many years but went back to his seniority as an engineer to finish his career on local freight.  He did me a lot of good with a recommendation many years ago when I hired out with the SP myself.

V8 Dennis, good find on the computer drawers.  I have found a few things like that myself including cabinets and drawers that I store trains in and a wagon with pneumatic rubber tires which is piled high with train boxes at the moment.

Hot weather is getting me down plus my stomach has been bummed out for a few days.  Have had to alter my diet to get back to normal.

My family is getting together today for a labor day swim party with ribs and all the fixin.  I might have to pass on some of the food until I feel better.

D. Baker, hope you are getting along OK and have a good holiday with your family.

Getting ready for church now.

Later,

Ray

Wow.  Where did August go?

Been a string of hot days here lately.  Some thunder boomers this morning, so hopefully it will cool off a little.

Project for this weekend is to fill up the hole in the deck left over from the removal of the dead hot tub.

Continued prayers for healing and condolences.

I'm trying to clean up the case on my recently acquired ZW.  A trip through the dishwasher took the grime off, but the case still has a spotted appearance.  Mother's polish makes the case have a shiny spotted appearance - the spots are flat and the areas between the spots are high gloss.  I tried wet sanding a small area with 320 and 600 grit sandpaper then more polishing with Mother's.  This resulted in a smooth, shiny spotted area.  I can't get an even gloss on the case.  Has anybody else seen this sort of thing?

All for now.

Good evening all,

Semi good day in Indycar as SFHR was 2nd with Newgarden's best Indycar finish and Simona was 5th.  Sato was dead last with mechanical issue.   Went to see IU men's soccer game.  Tied 0-0 at end of regulation.  UCLA won on "golden goal" one minute into first OT.  Had nice visit with family members.  Scored CTT Golden Years 1955-1959 at B&N.

Evening Fellas

Not much going on. Can't even remember what we did last night and today... so going to call it a night.

Fife - that is a lot of lives that he touched!

My cousin posted some pictures of our Grandparents on FB... kind of took the wind out of my sails today. Haven't seen my Mammy since 1980 and my Pappy since 1986/7. She was the first grand parent I lost and he was the last. My Mother's Father died Christmas day 1985 and my Grandmother passed in April-June 1986. It was nice to get to show TheQ and Christina their pictures today and tell them what little I remember of them. One picture really got me because it was of them sitting in their TV Room as they were every time we went to visit. Can still remember their voices and how my Mammy would hug me when I climbed up on her lap. Sigh

Went out to dinner to new place up the street.  Kids [brother and sister] that use to live next door and play with my kids are running it.  Big success.  Had a burger.  It was a monster and juicy.  Wonderful.  Had a few wings for appetizer.  They were almost as good as Hooters wings.  Started storming when we go there.  When we left, streets were flooded.  Poured and poured.  We had 3.25 inches of rain in a short while.

Sleep tight.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 75 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Not sure what today I will be doing, but probably will be doing it on or at the water. Pirate  Made the most of yesterday Paradise.

Fifepup no longer tossing pizzas at The Hut.  Got himself a new gig at a local sporting goods store.  He still has his main job at Office Depot.  He is happy.  Middle Princess back at college, and apparently caught the flu-bug from her boyfriend as a going away present.  Alexis enjoyed her first week of middle school.

AF53 - always wanted to recreate the classic "Loo-ceeeeelll" scene on my layout. Big Smile  Unfortunately, K-Line went out of business before they could animate a chain gang. Sigh

88 - Unsure of YORK.  Wifey gonna be a stay@home granny come October.  However, we will be taking grandson to Strasburg for Thomas this month.

Morning all.  Sunny, hot and humid.  Can see humidity.  Sun "pulling" all that water out of the ground and puddles.  More showers in the forecast.  Don't need them now.

Cleaned DIRTY and DUSTY office.  How does it collect so much dust in a short period of time? Sigh

Thanks to all of you LABORERS.  You help pay my SS check. Cool

Sounds like the Fifedum is back in order.  Grannies like to baby sit those Grandkids.

Now to paint ceiling in old train room up stairs.  Then Wifey doing the walls.  Can not tell where the holes were.

Have a good one.

I haven't seen rain like that since the last time I went to Florida.  Rained so hard I had to pull over because I could not see the road.

Still hot here. What's new?  It goes with the territory.  L.A. County fair is open now and I wouldn't be caught dead over there in the heat.  Went for a little walk this morning and came home sweaty.

Labor day swim party went well and we put away the ribs in short order.  Good time was had by all.

Happy Labor Day!!  (Something strange happening, I have lost 2 posts that I had posted Question)

Things going about the same, a few friends have dropped by, which was quite enjoyable, still maintaining  a low profile.   Working limited exercises, isometrics, and some limited movement the broken parts, resistance exercise for the other parts.  Next appt with the surgeon on the 18th.  HOPEFULLY the cast on the arm will come off then.  He told me they would be taking X-RAYS of the leg & wrist, prior to analysis.  With luck I may get a walking cast or less restrictive one.  Primarily hoping the arm cast goes.  Then I can do some projects!

As reported by both Dennis & Ray, the weather is less than comfortable.  Really ironic EVERY year when the LA County Fair starts the weather goes crazy.  Suppose to get hotter and stay humid the rest of the week.  I think it is so humid here you couldn't get paint to dry!  I am glad I'm not in the engine this week!

Today has been great!!  Started out with a haircut, wow, do I ever feel better!  Think I may work on printing some logos, or a jig saw puzzle.

Hope you all have a great day!

Greetings from rainy Cape Ann Taxachusetts......it has been quite the busy past few weeks.

The wifey, Maximus, and I ventured North of the border to Grand Bay-Westfield and St. John New Brunswick for the canine obedience trials held by the Kennebecasis Obedience Club.  Maximus took a third place and two seconds to achieve his Canadian Rally Advanced obedience title as well as one leg toward his Excellent title.  The right dog showed up as he scored a 93, 97, and a 98 out of 100 points! He must have thought I would leave him there if he didn't deliver.  Seriously, Pam handled him beautifully.  This stuff is all off-leash and is not as easy as it looks, especially with all of the distractions for one's dog......the smells, the crowds, other dogs, and an arena the size of a hockey rink. Big Smile

We returned home and then two days later hit the road again, this time with the grandkids for Elgin IL. to visit the great grandparents (Pam's folks).  We spent a lot of time helping them out with a bunch of stuff.  When you are over 90, even the easy things are difficult if not impossible.  My father-in-law had a list of to-do's and was at the ready to supervise me. Bang Head  And the ladies?  They went shopping, of course.  Then we had a mini-family reunion of sorts with the wife's relatives.

We just got back home last night and are really dragging.  That is pushing 4,000 driving miles since August 15!!!!

I have to go shower and do some laundry or I will be closer to the CHIEF in essence and appearance than I care to be.  Whistling

Speaking of the Chief, I sent him $100 as he requested.  He assured me he was acting as DonB's agent and that I needed to do this in order to receive a personalized, autographed picture of Don and his cast(s).  But it has been a couple of weeks and I never got the picture.   Surprise

JACK.

PS:  DougM.....I took Interstate 80/90 all the way to I 355 North to avoid the Chicago Skyway and the downtown morass and really made good time.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Cooled off a little today, mid 80's.

Got the framing done for the deck modifications.  Too hot and humid to get much done on it this weekend.  Late in the afternoon made a run to Menards for decking material.  I was amazed that I got two complements from the kids working there on my ratty old '72 Chevy pick up.

Polished on the ZW case some more.  Looks good from afar, but up close it is far from good.

All for now.

County Commissioners and give my take on the transit plan.

Off to the lake house for a plumbing problem that suddenly arose while Oldest was there this weekend.  ?????  Can't see how what is happening is happening.  Mow while I'm there but the grass has slowed in its growth.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 78 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Back on night shift.  Had a nice talk with Fifepup at sunset yesterday, by the river.

RockIsland - How is Max's French coming along...? Dunce

Banks - Now I want fried chicken for breakfast. Dinner

Chief - Haven't mowed fifedom in 3 weeks.  It would probably look like an Arizona dust storm if I tried.

Blueberry - Let's see which O's show up today.  They have been masters of taking 1 of 3 lately...

Cheapclassics - Other than the inconvenience to motorists this week, not sure anyone noticed there was a race in Baltimore.  Unsure of future events here.

dbaker - Perhaps when you get your cast cut off, we can send it around for everyone to sign...Ick!Laugh

Mornin' Fellas

Was able to get into the train room yesterday. I figured out my issue was not power related but dirt related. Cleaned the track and no power issues. I ordered a few parts to test something within the control panel. Will post pictures if it turns out the way I hope. Christina has figured out how to turn on the layout, so going to have to look for a light switch that I can lock, right now I have a standard wall light switch and all she does is walk up and flip it... Bang Head

I upgraded my cellphone to a Samsung Note II last week. Like the larger screen for note taking, emailing, and web surfing. Also like that I can Video Skype on it as well (will not do that unless connected to WiFi), the larger footprint causes a bit of an issue with carrying it though.

Not much else going on.

Aloha from a sunny and cool Chicago. Had a nice weekend. Posted photos of the highlight: visit to the IL Railway Museum on Sat. in a separate thread to honor those of you who have a hard time with viewing them. On Friday evening, we had a big storm come through which blew one of our pear trees down, right on the neighbor's house - very fortunately, nothing seems to be broken. I cut most of it away but need a chain saw for the rest. It was big.

Hello Don:

Do you make the jig saw puzzles? I have gotten in to making wood jig saw puzzles on the scroll saw. Much fun, but it has cut into time for other thing like posting here. I thought maybe you glued the picture you print to wood and cut them out. On course you need both hands to run the scroll saw, but hopefully that will come on the 18th.

Any one else into scrollsawing?
