K-Line Little Springs, How to Reinstall or gerry-rig
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, June 5, 2004 4:12 AM
Bought 8 Pennsy RR K-like box cars on Ebay. 2 of the 6 came with little springs above the wheels missing or fallen off and in packaging.

I'm unhandy, what's a relatively easy way to reinstall or avoid having to do so, yet keep the wheels on these things?

Re installing truck springs is always a tricky task. I like to take a small straight bladed screwdriver and stick it into the side of the spring, then gently get one end in place. Compress the spring and guide the other end in then carefully remove the screwdriver. You should do this in a confined space, because if you slip, the spring can fly away.

You are quite welcome John, and congrats on your first post. It's always nice to answer a good old fashioned how to question, and help someone. This was refreshing, given all of the wild discussion going on around here lately.[swg]
