Yep, it does say 'INTERMOBAL'....thought it was kinda odd, like it should say 'INTERMODAL'. Sounds like somoene at QC forgot to check for spelling lol.

Dave, when did you stop by the SEPGRS layout? I ran a lot of that display, and set it up and took it down. That engine that you have a picture of from the layout is mine. I was the teenager there. Were you the one talking to the little kid in the conductor's hat? The guys at the Hi Rail club are all friends of mine.

Jefelectric, it is a Baldwin Diesel Switcher, from Weaver. A V10000 is the model.

I was there on Saturday afternoon around 1:30. I had my son with me who was wearing a Thomas The Tank Engine baseball cap. I have two more shots of the SEPGRS layout on my blog:

Here are a few pics of my "flattop" layout. No scenery or detailing - just Lionel toy trains, tubular track and accessories.


The elevated section is all 072 using eight switches. It was a necessity for me to be able to run the larger engines.

John, That is a totally awesome layout. I don't know if I would have the guts to run trains on that outer loop though, looks like a long drop to the floor!

Laz, yes that is the Lionel Backshop. It is the centerpiece of my 'maintenance' area. I purchased it when I was stationed in Germany. It has made several trips across the pond.

It is modified a bit. I added permanently on interior lights; brighter machine lights; a Bosch machine shop sound box (5 machine sounds); two welding light circuits and I improved the look of the smoke during night running.

It works great. It is very much maligned by those with some sort of axe to grind against Lionel. Yes, the tin walls are thin, but so what? Once set up it really doesn't matter.

I did install the modified board Lionel furnished.

Jefelectric, yes, it is about 42" , plus the height of the trestle, to the floor - but knock on wood, I haven't had a misshap. I eventually plan to install some plexiglass, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
