Where we are at CTT right now

It's impossible to ignore the effects from COVID-19 around the globe. Our routines have changed, and many of us are staying at home. You might be wondering how this affects Classic Toy Trains or other magazines at Kalmbach Media. I'm here to put your mind at ease and answer a few questions.

Is Kalmbach Media still open?

Yes, though most of us are working remotely from home. A few employees may be in the building (for example, to ship out orders from our website).

Will my magazine arrive on time?

We're doing all we can to make this happen. The May issue and our new special issue (Lionel of the 1960s) are complete and at the printers, and we're at work on the July issue now. Please know that we can't help delays from the printer and/or the postal service.

Update: We have learned that newsstand on-sale dates have changed for special issues, such as our Lionel of the 1960s. To make sure you receive a copy, we suggest either calling our Customer Service department or ordering online at KalmbachHobbyStore.com. As far as we know, there are no changes to on-sale dates to regular issues.

How can I reach editorial?

The best way is through email. I know not everyone has (or likes) email, but it's the fastest way to get an answer. If you call our office, please leave a voice mail and someone will call you back.

Are you still accepting submissions?

Yes! If you have a photo for Photo album, send to photoalbum@classictoytrains.com. To submit a question for the Q&A column, qsandas@classictoytrains.com. If you have a Letter or a manuscript suggestion, email editor@classictoytrains.com

I submitted an article that was accepted. Will I still get paid?

Yes, payments are being sent as usual.

Will I still receive my author copy?

Yes, we are still mailing out author copies as usual. There may be a few days' delay compared to usual, as not everyone is in the office as often.

What can I do in the meantime?

Enjoy the hobby! Run some trains, work on a project, take videos and share them (virtually) with others. Participate in our forum, browse our site and watch some reader videos, or refresh your skills by reading some beginner articles

Consider a membership to MRVP, where you can watch hundreds of hours of video. Learn some skills, or just be entertained.

Order a puzzle or board game to enjoy with family members.

Catch up on your back issues, or consider subscribing to another Kalmbach magazine.

Last but not least, take care of yourself and stay healthy!
