Container well cars from Menards

The new well car from Menards is a light rig that carries two containers.

I'll brag that I usually have a box of buildings and freight cars from Menards handy, that I shoot for Product News and put up on the blog. But when the new no. 279-3688 TTX container car with two containers was announced I was a total surprise. I broke out the plastic to order a pair and they arrived at my local Menards store over the 4th of July weekend. The car was well-protected for shipment and the car comes with extra "pegs" to secure the top container to the lower container. 

The containers come strapped to the cars and the trucks are strapped to prevent transit damage. The TTX and Yang Ming graphics look very good.

The car comes very well protected for shipment – straps hold the trucks in place and a strap holds the containers to the car.

The 9 1/2-inch long containers are marked for Yang Ming, a shipping firm from the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The car has perforated decking for rain drainage.

The car has add-on detailing such as decking, brake wheel, and an air brake reservoir.

Graphics are very well executed.

The container car is 17-inches long, but operates on O-27 track. Here it is shown next to a Menards boxcar for a size comparison.

The cars are fairly light and should enable you to pull a long train of Yang Ming cargo containers!
