O gauge arriving at Menards No. 1

One of the recent surprises in the hobby has been the introduction of O gauge compatible buildings, rolling stock and vehicles from home improvement chain Menards.

You can see the Menards freight cars, Woodland scenics trees, and the Lionel Large scale Canadian Pacific steam set.

I stopped by the local Menards on the way to work (to pick up 100 lbs. of bird seed, but that is another story). Some of the O gauge product is starting to arrive in stores now. I took some cell phone image (attached). These show a selection of O gauge freight cars, a Lionel Large scale Canadian Pacific set, and many, many vehicles from the firm's new Denver Diecast line.

This is one pile of die-cast goodness!

Menards sent us a box of passenger autos, but the big floor bin showed passenger vans, construction equipment, and even motor cycles priced at $2.99 each.

So head's up!

The passenger van caught my eye – included were Army, Navy, and Air Force vehicles. Note the PRR logo on the yellow piece of equipment behind the Navy van!
