Most stores sell strapping tape.
The most durable has nylon filaments running the length.
Extra strong has filaments length and width.
There also almost invisible tape.
Place the tape inside the box.
Cover the total flap and go one inch inside the box.
If you do not care about seeing some tape.
Extend the tape just a pit more. Then fold it over the edge of the flap. This keeps the flap edges from puckering.
I'm not sure how original you want them to be but you might try stamp hinges. They are small thin adhesive strips used by some stamp collectors to put stamps into books.
