Amtrak Northeast
ALERT: As of 9:35 am ET, Due to a disabled commuter train blocking the tracks in the area, Services operating between New York (NYP) and Newark (NWK) may experience lengthy delays. Updates to follow as more information becomes available
Maybe we can assume derailment is on one of the switches that were not repaired after the last derailments. In any case is this another Amtrak effort to reduce costs by not doing preventative maintenance? 1500 passengers should bring in NTSB?

I don't think that's how it works.

"Disabled" could also mean an engine failure or even something as simple as a broken brake pipe.  Doesn't automatically mean a derailment.
