Possible way to get Amtrak moving on capacity?

Call all board members and senior management in.  Have all sign those infameous non dated regisnation letters.  Tell them increase capacity every week or less regisnation will be accepted. Also sell that capacity at whatever fills the seats as it becomes available. As well add in FRA official in charge of signals to fix this axel count car situation.  Same conditions.

Although not enamoured with these officials they are at least in office without having to get up to speed by new officials.  This definitely a stick without much carrot.

If parts become a problem the executive office will push for parts.  COT&S parts should not be a problem as all freight cars use most of same parts.

Management has no way to force employees to sign such paperwork, and you can be sued if you fire them without cause.  We are a long time passed Huey Long's patronage system.

Putin may be able to implement such a plan in Russia, but not in the USA.

If someone is talented and qulified enough to serve on a board or senior management of a company like Amtrak, why would they ever do something as rediculous as signing undated resignation letters as you are suggesting?

Can we get back to reality?

It's been fun.  But it isn't much fun anymore.   Signing off for now.

Sounds like something that Elon Musk might propose.

So Musk is added to the political dictator list because he buys a private company and makes changes?

I fired a teacher once who did not share my idea of what a teacher should be doing in our school.  I guess that makes me blood brothers with Putin, Xi, and other pols with authoritarian tendencies.

Honeslty, he'd probably be flattered.

But to bring this back RR-related, I heard rumors years ago they were going to force our managers with trainman seniority to exercise or relinquish it.  I don't think that particular nuclear option ever happened.  Prob b/c they found out they'd lose everyone with trainman seniority.

That may or may not be, but it's still a silly comparison.

Bold to assume they knew who any of those people were.

Probably they wouldn't know since it sounds like they were occupants of a school run like a private corporation rather than an institution of learning with the fundamental principles of academic freedom.

Wow!  I don't know if I should thank you or be insulted.  I'm glad the school board didn't know I was running my own little fiefdom.

Tell them increase capacity every week........

Gardner must have heard you.  A third coach has been added to the Texas Eagle.  Now, if they would bring back the Sightseer Lounge Car, I would be a happy camper.
