The Railroad comes to Pewaukee, WI

Centered around the passenger depot in Pewaukee, WI.    Thats why it is under Passenger topic area.    Someone is liable to grumble so I thought I would explain.   Anyhow, very excellently written oral history, obviously from an old timer.   Some of the details of railroad operation.....are new to me from the 1850-1890 wood burner era.    The ICE HOUSES referred to are that Pewaukee had 5 large Ice houses in which lake water was cut up into large ice cubes and stored in the houses for Milwaukee Road railroad refers in Milwaukee as well as the Milwaukee Brewery usage.    The current beach house on Pewaukee Lake Beach near to the CP Rail tracks is a replica of the last Pewaukee Railroad Depot.
