I'm surprised no one has commented on this in almost a full day.

I'm a little depressed to see that we apparently know less as of this date than Sumwalt said he did at the last meeting.  Apparently the telemetry data have been revised to show the 'engineer' making the emergency application; whether this conveniently forgets what was said previously about the emergency button on the conductor's side being what was used ... I don't know.

Likewise, surprise, surprise, the outward facing camera record 'stopped before the collision'.  This is beginning to be monotonous as we are made to believe that teams of data-cracking experts are hard at work trying to reconstruct the video (and ultimately not succeeding) while I remain secure in the thought that every potential rules violation observed by inward-facing cameras on all other locomotives is crystal-clear at high resolution during the discipline hearings.  I would still be interested in seeing the passage through the switch and then on the siding; how long do you suppose it will take to get that put up?

Still no word, or no hint, on the derail placement.  Or even the timeline of what the CSX crew was doing between opening the switch for the shove and the moment they ran from the Amtrak train (presumably alerted by the noise traversing the switch and then the long horn blast).  Surely these details are known and are reasonably objective items for public record.

I was fully underwhelmed by the information presented in this report.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Perhaps the lack of new information was the reason for not commenting.

Obviously, the NTSB and Amtrak would prefer that the public knew nothing about this collsion.  They have assumed the task of managing the public reaction, and that entails informing us as little as possible going forward.  But I am glad that we have all engaged in thoughtful discussion and speculation on the probabilities.  I suspect the grapevine will present the world with an accurate picture of what happened long before the NTSB develops their end game.

Most of the world was never there in the first place.  But those that were care about these things, and we hardly need a tinfoil hat.  I know that up and down the railroad, everybody connected with CSX knows exactly what happened.  They spectulate and compare information.  They alway figure it out.

What’s wrong here?

If the term elite is offensive, I am sorry.

You prove my point by labelling me as your buddy and advise me that my victim card is invalid.

Sorry I forgot that you guys are in charge and set the standards.

One poster recently on the Cayce crash thread, ......... told me to take my serious thoughts about the death and disaster and go start another thread .......if that is what I wanted to talk about.

What, start another thread?

My concern on the original thread……. a very serious subject,….. was that the thread had degenerated into talking about getting drunk and wack a mole gaming.

Oh, but the elite did not like being called to question.  Hey, buddy, go somewhere else.

Then on another post someone tried to invoke some symbol for sarcasm.  He was informed by the elite that “we don’t recognize that here”.  Who is we?   The elite!

Sorry that elite is not a creative name you find desirable, I was just trying to have a civil conversation.

p.s.  since I am having serious problems with vocabulary, what is the definition of GOAT? Endmrw0302180339

We should get T-shirts printed up.  Maybe the powers here can give us custom member titles.  "Elite smart aleck" would look awesome under my engineer pony.
