Temporary east bound Sunset schedule change.
Posted by blue streak 1 on Saturday, February 1, 2014 8:08 PM

There are reports that Eastbound Sunset will leave LAX 2 hours earlier from Feb 2 to March 29.

Will run these two hours until arriving 2 hours early at Maricopa.  Will then leave there at scheduled timetable.  These is no notice at any Amtrak web site and only way to confirm is to go to reservations and confirm these times.  Lots of notice ?  Somehow there is a lack of communication. ?  What is UP doing ?

I thought i had heard that the people of Maricopa hated this train due to blocking the major road downtown for only 10 minutes, how will they like the 2 hours?

There's plenty of room to park the train at Maricopa without fouling SR 347. I suspect the schedule change has to do with a work window somewhere between L.A. and Maricopa.
