WSJ - SPAIN"S AVE article - HSR changing Spain
Posted by blue streak 1 on Monday, April 20, 2009 7:52 PM

Monday's Apr 20 Wall stree Journal had an article on Spain's new AVE HSR. Essentially they said that an unanticipated benefit of the Madrid - Seville HSR has been Spainards travelling more and commuting much more. Seems that those citizens are commuting on the HSR lines from intermediate stations and also the whole country is coming closer, That is one thing that better communications always seem to allow. One problem notred was that Spain has not kept the freight lines up to a state of good repair and that has caused much freight to go to the roads making freight rates very subject to ups and downs of fuel costs.
