Does anyone have a picture of the GM sd40 with the small fuel tank? Gary
Plain SD40 or SD40-2, like those used by MILW?
GM is a SD40. Gary
IA and eastern GM is a SD40. Gary
Backshop IA and eastern GM is a SD40. Gary I believe he is talking about Gainesville & Midland #10. An SD40 bought by the SAL for their GM subsidary. Huh? He asked if you wanted an SD40 or an SD40-2.

Gainesville Midland had a SD40 with a small fuel tank that i wanted a picture of. Gary
There are plenty of pictures on the internet of it. The fuel tank doesn't look that small to me. Same with the A&SAB unit.
This locomotive started with a small fuel tank maybe a 1500 gallon tank. Gary
The one photo I saw was from 1969 and had the larger fuel tank. The locomotive was manufactured in 1966. That would've been awfully fast.
The only second generation SDs that I can think of that came with extra small fuel tanks are the MILW SDL39s and the two Columbus & Greenville SD28s.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
There are plenty of photos out there with that size fuel tank. A 1500 gal tank would be about the size for an SW1500...very small.
I think i got Gainesville Midland sd40 and C&G sd28 backwards. The Gainesville Midland had smaller fuel tank but not as small as i thought. Thank you. Gary
