Paducah & Louisville SD70MAC 4502

A Paducah & Louisville SD70MAC has been repainted into PAL paint with road number #4502.  I assume the other SD70MACs that were recently acquired from CSX will be repainted into PAL's paint scheme too.

Wow. Is this the first case of AC traction locomotives making their way into the secondary market (exclusive of those that went to lease fleets)?

There are (or were) some SD90MAC-Hs (the 6,000 HP model) operating on Indiana RR in their paint scheme but IINM they were owned by a lessor ..

The INRD units are not SD90MAC-H's, they are 4300hp SD9043MAC's which were built as part of a 40 unit fleet for CIT Financial (CEFX #100-139).  INRD picked up it's units from CIT on a long term lease. Prior to the INRD transaction  10 of the CEFX units were sld or leased long term to Iowa Pacific and distributed among its operations. 2 were painted in corporate colors for the aborted Ski Train revival.

A group of 9 former UP SD90MAC-H's were rebuilt to SD9043MAC specs for Australian iron ore hauler Fortescue Mining Group.

As delivered, FMG 901 to 904 retained their 265H engines, and only 905 to 909 were rebuilt with 710G3 engines. This was to allow those units to be placed in service immediately to meet the demand due to mine expansion. At least one original unit was not used, since the 265H engine needed overhaul. It was indicated that these would be fitted with 710G3 engines, but FMG have since purchased more than twenty new SD70 ACe units, so rebuilding the SD90MACs might not have a high priority.
