The new Bombardier bilevel cars are equipped with Crash Energy Management (CEM) elements, especially the cab cars at both ends. According to FRA crashworthiness standards the car have corner post at the outside, collision post in the one-third and two-third points. On these post is a thick front plate. On top of the front plate are the CEM elements. Additionally the cars have push-back couplers.
