I had an opportunity to see and take pictures of the UP Special on May 12th as it roared through the South Sound up here in Washington State. The Olympic Model Railroad Society had a number of photographers along different spots on the mainline taking pictures.
We have the first bits of narrative and photos gathered and loaded to our web site, if any one is interested in the 844 and 4449 locomotives. We also have photos and narratives contributed from members of the Olympia NMRA Clinic group. It's great reading!!

There is an update to the UP844 special page with a 43 second video of SP4449 and UP844 heading back south on May 22nd. If you like steam, this 43 seconds may be worth the time the download takes. The video file is 17 meg ( I haven't figured out how to compress it yet) and has sound, so it is worth the download.
