Balt. some people might find this offensive.

Where I live many people will not listen to or have anything to do with Richard Wagner's music, in any way.  They will boycott an orchestra or other musicians who will perform it.   Others rush to concerts of his music, which should be judged as excellent regardless of the politics of the composer.

I take a middle ground by not adding RW to my CD collection or deliberately seeking his music, but will not rush to silence the radio or close my ears when I happen to hear it.

There is an infinite amount of wonderful music to hear and perform, but  his Beiraut "Festspeilhaus" is a unique sucessful design, not duplicated elsewhere, thus important for acoustics people and assembly-place architects to study, and is in my draft of a Hebrew Architectural Acoustics textbook.

This clip has been used hundreds of times to espouse many views - some virtuous, some ludicrous, some profane.  The real hitler (he doesn't deserve capitalization) was a monster and would have been better off dead a decade earlier and 60 million people would have lived their natural lives.  To make him a laughing stock as this genre of clip does, urinates on his grave wherever and in how many pieces he may be.  To do otherwise gives him power from the grave - power that the world should NEVER EVER give him.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

And keep in mind folks, that's not really Hitler.  It's a Swiss actor named Bruno Ganz  (who hates Hitler himself, and had to be talked into taking the role)  doing a remarkable job as Adolf.

It's from a film called "Downfall", and if you haven't seen it you should!  Very well done!

By the way, as I understand it Mr. Ganz, and the director of the film as well have seen a lot of the parodies and enjoy them very much.

A few good parodies of management practices, railroad and other, using clips from this movie with subtitles.

This must be at least the 12th thing I've seen that adapted this clip with new dialogue.

It was cute the first time or two. ;)

It does have to be said -- net of all sensitivity toward groups with legitimate hatred of the Nazis -- that this one is far and away the most amusing, and most amusingly written, of all the examples of this particular meme I have seen.

Besides, it's disparaging of Hitler and his general leadership.  Is it upsetting to see Charlie Chaplin in 'The Great Dictator' making fun of Hitler with dialogue?  Perhaps the best insurance against there being another Hitler is to make the one we had look as laughable as possible... that does not mean we forget.

The last thing I want to do is turn this into a Hitler parody thread, even if it is one already, but the absolute best one is  "Hitler versus Khan."  If you're a "Star Trek"  fan you'll love it, if you're not a "Trekkie", don't bother with it.

Search youtube "Hitler versus Khan".

Every time I see this parody I come away gasping for air! This one is pretty good but the very first one I saw was a parody of the engineering and construction industry on outsourcing, quality control documentation and the like.

I never knew Hitler was an excursion fan. Never the less I am THRILLED that both 611 and 4014 are returning to service. And after that I would LOVE to see 1218 return to steam.

AND WE WILL DOUBLE-HEAD THEM LIKE WE DID IN 1987!!!!

Ha ha! My favorite line! When they bring back 1218 (Because we all secretly know on the inside that they eventually will) I'll think of this one line the whole time.

Joe, I went looking for and found the "4501 not being green"  spoof.  Very good!

Who knew Adolf was a Johnny Cash fan?
