Does anybody know what the current fate of CPR 2816 is? I found their facebook page but it has been dead since 2011 even though people are asking what will happen to the locomotive. I hope it will stay around so it can be brought out after Hunter leaves.

I've been told that it's sitting stored (more like mothballed) at the Ogden Shops in Calgary with all brass and other valuables removed (gauges, bell, whistle, other fittings).
If you've seen the IMAX movie "Rocky Mountain Express," you have to wonder who in their right mind at CP would have allowed this tremendous p.r. tool, historic icon, and employee morale booster to get sidetracked. And anyone who knows anyone who works for CP right now would know that employee morale has never been in worse shape.
His name is Hunter Harrison, and take it from this CN conductor that you ain' seen nothin yet with how CP's culture, morale and infrastructure is going to be run into the ground.
