The Pere Marquette 1225 runs again!

Anybody else going on the 1225  Pere Marquette from Owasso to Clare May 17th and 18th?, or have you in the past and how is the photo run by spot?, any info would be good, thanks.

YES i am going...never ever miss a 1225 run...lol

 as far as spots...theres plenty....off hand theres a place called Wolfs Crossing 4 miles out of Owosso...north of Alma the tracks run next to both US127 and Sheppard rd....theres plenty more but these stuck out in my mind from last year....

 

as far as the run by spot in Ithica...its great....theres a cut with a bridge just past the drop off point and both sides of the tracks offer good views....heres last summer

Hi J. Edgar, thanks for the info, is that spot in your photos the one we would likely stop at on this trip do you know? and keep an eye out for me, i will be the one with all the tattoos and shaved head, hope to see you there.

Ithica is the default photo run-by location as far as i know...the trips ive followed its always stopped here.....well youll see me there and chasing if your riding the coaches....wife and kids will be there too....here she is in Ithica last summer...she loves chasin steam

For all of you railfans who just chase the train to take pictures and want a freebie, do something novel and buy a ticket to support trips like this.  If you did there might be more of them.  Just a thought.

While I do agree that more people should buy tickets, it should be noted that it's not exactly easy to take pictures of the engine while you are inside a passenger car behind it.

Somebody else is paying for your opportunity to take pictures.  Here's an idea.  Buy a ticket, give it to somebody as a gift and you can still take pictures. Or you can just keep the ticket and feel good that you actually contributed to the excursion.

well for what its worth some people just plain cant afford tickets...i for 1 have a hard time with the gas and happy meals to chase it let alone the price of tickets...im not saying they're expensive as far as steam excursions go but i cant afford 'em....on the other hand i donate to the SRI and have off and on donated time to work on the 1225 over the last 15 yrs...but i agree buy tickets...but if you cant then buy a tee shirt...or if nothing else bring your kids track side and let them wave at the wonderful people that do support this piece of history...and maybe even take a pic or two
