I'll be hanging around home for the holidays. Headed for Balto next week, but trip by rail would take far longer than the drive. May hit the light rail while I'm there, though, head for downtown from the BWI area.

We learned not to travel long distances at the Holidays. We took Amtrak to Los Angeles in 1998 for Christmas with family in Arizona and the terminals and the airport was a mess. We returned home in time to avoid an ice storm by just a few hours.

My travel plans include a one-way rail trip on Amtrak's Auto Train from Sanford, FL to Lorton, VA and a drive homeward post-holiday.

I voted no for two reasons 1 There isn't a passenger train or any within 200 miles of where I live. 2 We don't plan any travel

Vacation? What's that. :)

I wish I had the time for a vacation this year (2004). I'd love to take a cross national train trip. Been awhile. Too long.

I wish I could! I am in mauritius oct-dec and then maldives jan-apr! very nice but I miss trains. I don't know when I'll be in a country that has train service! but sailboats are nice too, even if it is a "job"!

No. My wife and I will be spending Christmas Eve with my step-daughters and grandchildren for a Christmas Eve Dinned. Then on Christnas Day, we will be going "by car" out to Knox,in to spend some time with the in-laws and their children and grandchildren. And while I am thinkin of it, MAY EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

No, but I would without question if the Soo Line still ran overnight from the UP of Michigan with sleeper to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Oh, I'd even settle for Amtrak.

No holiday travel this year. But then the Northwestern Pacific ended passenger service here in 1958.
