If you liked the new KCS loco paint scheme, you'll love their new covered hoppers

Here's today's official press release from the KCS website regarding their new locos and paint scheme.

http://notes.kcsi.com/WebApps/kcspress.nsf/626e6035eadbb4cd85256499006b15a6/104843904861e7a8862572a400752c2a?OpenDocument

Of particular interest is paragraph five, which reads:

"KCS has also committed to purchase 1,050 covered hopper rail cars and 150 covered coil rail cars, which will receive a paint scheme complementary to the heritage theme. The first of 150 covered hoppers will be released on March 22 from American Railcar Industries in Paragould, Ark. The covered hoppers will be subleased to KCSM."

I suppose those of us who applauded the new locomotive paint scheme will be even happier with this.  Those who dislike the new scheme, or think it doesn't go with freight, will have a few more units to ignore.

Regards

Ed

I like it Ed.  Looks pricey, but they can save money on headlights now...Laugh [(-D]

Too bad they didn't paint up some cars and a matching caboose for the publicity shot.
