Friday, Mar 16, 2007 - 09:24:21 am CDTGRAND ISLAND - Seven cars on a Union Pacific train derailed Thursday morning in downtown Grand Island, a spokesman for the Omaha-based company said.

James Barnes said the 116-car train was headed west to North Platte when seven of its cars went offline. No injuries were reported.

Witnesses at the scene told KNOP-TV that sparks were coming from the train and a nearby building shook during the derailment.  Barnes said no chemicals were released in the incident.
