NS CSX NY Snow
Posted by railroad65 on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 5:00 PM
I've seen on the news that western NY state has gotten 100 plus inches of snow with more on the way. How is this effecting NS, CSX and the area short lines. Does NS or CSX own any rotary plows or just Jordan spreaders.

railroad65. Do you mean eastern NY??? Oswego got 100 plus inches of snow. I don't think that NS or CSX goes into Oswego NY. CSX uses Jordan spreaders with jet blowers for their switches. If it's 100 inches of snow NS and CSX will shut down the their railroads until other wise.

I saw evidence of a Jordan spreader on CSX north of Watertown, NY today.  I know there is one stationed at Watertown.

CSX runs right through the area that's been in the news lately - It more or less follows I-81 from Watertown to Syracuse.  Pulaski - which got plenty of snow and news coverage - is right on the Montreal Secondary.  As far as I know, things are running along OK.

CSX goes right into Oswego (Fulton Secondary Track). Also, as mentioned the Montreal Secondary passes right through the worst snow area. Also, in addition to Jordan Spreadersthere are a number of ex-CR plows in the area and a flanger or two.
