they refuse to sellthe 13.5 mile stretch of track that used to be from east memphis to the city of cordova. the trackage has been there since 1920s and was originaly l&n railway til they folded into the csx in the 80s.

it used to be 65miles longer but the trackage was lifted in the 90s. the last 13.5 mile stretch was  abandoned in 2002. the city of memphis  was trying to make it into a bike trail but then wanted a light rail system but that fail through. so they wanted that bike trail but the csx wants 14million for the right of way. memphis has no way of coming up with the money. so for now a couple of frieght and passanger cars are still there and old stations and it appears the old passanger slash frieght line will stay preserved til further notice.

mkt

welcome to the forums. csx isnt known too much for its public relations. by the way they have acted in the past tear apart only to rebuild later that might be what they are thinking.who knows.there could be something to move in later?or it could just be politics as usual.

stay safe
