The Cubs Fans thing was supposed to be a joke. It's a Chicago thing. I'm a White Sox fan. No person can be both. No person can change. A double header sweep is a Sox win and a Cubs loss. Two people may be best of friends, but the Cubs/Sox divide will never be crossed. It will always be between them. It's a Chicago thing. It was a freaking joke.Really, the on train alcohol doesn't seem to cause problems. The rides are relatively short and anyone who's intoxicated got that way before boarding. If someone wants to sip a beer/highball/wine on the train ride home, it's his/her business.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you were making a Chicago joke. In that context, my comment was inappropriate. My apologies.

No problem. If you're ever in town look me up. I'll take you to a game and buy you a beer.
Comisky Park/Sox Park/"US Cellular Field" is located by UP's Canal Street intermodal terminal. Amtrak charges by into and out of C.U.S. on a regular basis. It's easily accessable by "L" and the "Rock Island District" Metra trains are just across the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Wrigley Field ("Yetch") is also right by the "L".

I don't believe the Bar Cars were/are public domain. After some brief research it seems they were private membership coaches leased from Metra. Metra lists two on their equipment roster.

Well, they let me in.
What you're looking at is private railcar commutation. The "North Shore" is where the really rich folks live. You know, the politically connected law firm in the Loop, the very large house on the shore of Lake Michigan, those folks.
They'd have "private cars" that only "they" could ride in attached to C&NW (latter Metra) commuter trains. (Several commuters shared the car. It wasn't like one guy had his own railcar for a ride back and forth to work.) I do not know the details of the ride in such cars. I was never let in to one of those.
Now don't get me wrong, these people "made it" and if they want to spend their money on private railcars for the "journey to work", that's fine with me.
But these ain't the "bar cars" of Metra. If you want a good ride home from work get a slice of Connie's Pizza and a beer in C.U.S. and then get on an express down the racetrack.
"Honey, I'm Home".
I used to do that. But "Honey's" gone and I now take a Ford to and from work. No pizza, no beer.
The cars which you call "bar cars" are informal in nature and do not sell liquor.
Correct?
One of the Metra lines in noted for having a "card car" where games are played.
The Conducter isn't the Dealer.
I don't like Connies Pizza. The've been yuppified and over expanded.
