Don't know if this story will make it in the TRAINS Newswire... [;)][:I]

Train traveler's arm stuck in toilet trying to retrieve phone
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/146279_potty31.html

The good news...

QUOTE: ...firefighters used no less than three sets of power tools, including the hydraulic jaws of life, to cut through the toilet, which was ripped from the lavatory before being sliced open.

As bad as it sounds, officials said the toilet will be okay. They estimate 3 days and it will be back in service. [:)]

The sad part...

QUOTE: "It cost our customers a long, convoluted commute, and it cost this railroad many thousands of dollars," said Dan Brucker, a spokesman for Metro-North.

After he pulled it out of the toilet, I wonder if he was planning on still using it. I'm not sure I would want to put it next to my ear and mouth. YUCK!

I just read the article. How funny and yet how stupid. But I guess most people would have done the same.

I agree -- wouldn't want to use it either. Time for a new phone. Oh, look at this one. Isn't it nice. I'll take it. lol

How come we never see that guy in western Nebraska and eastern Colorado where that vaunted service (or anybody else's for that matter) NEVER works???? Is he hiding in the potty in the lounge car on Amtrak #5 or #6 on the trip through????

That's because he's way too busy driving every third car in SoCal trying to create an accident.

The CA law for operating a motor vehicle as I understand it states that a person operating a vehicle while using a cellular communications device without a hand free attachment is given right of way over all other vehicles. If the vehicle is a luxury vehicle, the right of way is absolute and when two luxury vehicles are involved, the driver of the less expensive of the two must yield. Failure to do so may lead to significant penalty and civil liability.

Speaking of yielding.....that reminds me of a joke...........Two cars in Alabama are involved in an accident. A police officer arrives at the scene and begans questioning the drivers. It becomes apparent that the driver of a pickup failed to obey they posted yield sign and hit the other vehicle. The officer asks the pickup driver if he saw the yield sign......

"Of course I did officer, I saw the yield sign and the other car.....I yield at him as loud I as could but he still kept coming...." [:D]

Now I get it...that was a trick question.......[:D]

Because if he's on Amtrak, he's too busy trying to get in touch with his ride at the other end updating them on how late he's goning to be????[;)]

You sure it was a phone? Maybe it was his brain or manhood.

I wouldn't want anything back that falls in a pubic toilet.

I first heard this story on the radio this afternoon and I thought it was bad enough they had to reroute trains and passengers and even CUT the toilet apart but the shocking part was the news said they were planning to sue this man for damages!!! What in God's name is this world coming to? It was an accident! What would happen if the blood circulation in his arm was cut off and he developed a blood clot? Who would sue who then?

And here's an ironic twist: I just read in the paper today about some deal that allows cell phone users to keep their cell phone numbers but change their service provider. This means millions, they estimate, of cell phones would be obsolete and therefore trashed. The main concern of the article was all the toxic materials in cell phones would end up in landfills. The guy could have just left the phone alone and get a new one.

WOW! 3 legal cases in one day:
1 can't wave at train crews
2 can't photograph trains in NJ
3 can't retrive cell phone (or other property) from train toilets
...all without being sued.

Great, what a Plce to drop a phone, down the crapper! I hope he starlized his phone, If i dropped my phone in the water, i think it would work for a grand total of 1.1 secondes before it crapped out! So I don't think the phone worked after retrieving it, so i Bet dimes to dollars, that it was a waste of time..

Hope he apologized to the John.
