Train Watching Spots Between Calgary and Edmonton?
Posted by Pathfinder on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 10:57 AM

Any Albertans give me some clues to places to see some trains next week?  I will be in Alberta for business and have all day to drive from Calgary to Edmonton airport so any advice would be appreciated.

Try Airdrie,( Almost part of North Calgary now) or stop in Red deer and lurk around the train station downtown, there should be a few drags pulling through.

You should PM trainboyH16_44 he seems to know the CP tracks pretty well around there.

Thanks, think I will as I already have had some PM's with him.  Thought he might post for all to enjoy though.

You will be on the main highway.

What ever train is on the tracks you should be able to see from the highway.

If you have a chance to go to Lethbridge its less than 2 hours away go and see the

train bridge. If you have never seen it.it will blow you away. One of the big ones.

So I spent a great day getting from Calgary to Edmonton thanks to trainboyH16-_44's advise Thumbs Up [tup]     Just follow 2A.   One north bound local switching the oil plants on the south end, 4 south bound frieghts and a local switching at Luduc.

I will post some pictures when I get back next week.  Calling for snow in the Rockies for the drive home, should also make for some nice shots  Smile [:)]
