Anyone got the "scoop" on any mergers to come in the future.

I was shock that BNSF-CN wanted to meger but I was glad they didn't.[:0][:0][:0]
I hate to be the last one to know[:(!][:(!][:(!]

[8D] I think that the next major railway merger is going to involve one of the Mexian railroads. I can see KCS and TFM merging. I don't know I guess that I am just rambling.[8D][:)]

Here in the East, the rumor mill has been saying that UP is chomping at the bit to get CSX... But, that has been going around for about 10 years now, so who knows?

Personally, I'd watch what happens between KCS and TFM. Mr. Haverty may need a white... or an orange, yellow and green knight to do the deal.

NAFTA Rail may not happen. The Mexicans have had a change of heart. They are entitled by agreement to buy back interest from the KCS that was aquired some time back on a dollar for dollar basis. No profits on this deal for the KCS. OOPS!

[xx(] Well I guess that shoots my merger to bits. [xx(] A little thought and I think that [:D][:D] UP [8D][8D] will merge with [:(][:(]CSX eventually but not for at least 5 five years. [8D][8D] CN [:o)][:o)] will not be merging with any one soon. I have heard that they are having some [:(!][:(!] internal problems [:(!][:(!] which have to be remedied before they can consider any more [}:)] expansion [}:)] proposals. [8D][8D]

Looking to the future, it is really hard to say. Even if railroads agreed on a merger, the gov't more than likely would step in and stop it. So we can all have fun guessing, but what make sense to us railfans and the railroads, will probably not make sense to the gov't. But we cannot control that. Oh well! Keep guessing and maybe it will actually happen, but for the time being, I will stay in the middle and wait like everyone else is doing! UPRR-MDC
