The SD70ACe has such prominent radiators that it looks like it could fly.
The large, thick radiator adds strength to the forceful safety cabin.
They are a dramatic change of pace from the SD40-2's and DASH 9s in CSX, CN, BNSF, NS, and UP paint.
It would be great to see some CSX fallen flag schemes on the SD70ACes, plus the NS and CN SD70M-2s.

SchemerBob wrote:Yesterday, I saw my very first SD70ACe! It was BNSF #9371, pulling a coal train on the "K Line" in Alexandria, Missouri. Luckily, I just happened to bring my video camera along. They have a very nice sounding horn and electronic bell, and the engines themselves look pretty good. Anyone else like these locomotives, because I do!
While I have seen some SD70ACE units on U.P. at Rochelle and W. Chicago, I have not seen one yet on BNSF at my beloved Eola yard, even though we get lots of coal trains through here regularly. I am looking forward to the new units, they are good looking in clean U.P. paint and no doubt will look good in the BNSF "swoosh" scheme...well, some day!
I've got my photos of the unit up on my website, so here they are!

Yes, it was certainly something different, like a cross between an Evolution's and a regular freight horn. It sounded great!
I am not impressed. (like anyone really cares!) You listen very carefully to the new ACe and the new Gevo and they both still sound like garbage trucks at dawn. (I do like the new whistle/horn sound, tho) The SD70 was/is quiet. The new EMD isn't all that quiet.
Of course, in the cab it won't make a bit of difference especially with the windows closed. But since it is a forum and we have to write about something, I may as well chime in on my likes and dislikes.
