Strasburg Railroad and Lancaster

Hey everyone, my name is Mike and I live in Quakertown, PA. I wanted to know how many people have visted the Strasburg Railroad, Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, or Toy Train Museum and what they thought of it. I've been to all of them quite a few times in my life. I consider the Strasburg Railroad the best tourist railroad I have been to and like it very much. E-mail me if you want so we can talk [e-mail]

Hey Mike. I work not too far from you in Coopersburg, PA. I've been to the Strassburg a few times, and loved it every time. The PA train museum is definately a "must see" in my book. In fact I'll be there in a couple of weekends.Did you ever have a chance to ride the Blue Mountain and Reading from Temple to Hamburg PA when they were running regular excursians? To me that was a better railroad to ride as a tourist. 13 miles of well maintained track (50+ mph), 2 working Steam locomotives (the 425 and the 2102), and a host of vintage diesels (E-8's, GP-30, C-630, RDC's). My father worked for the BM&R as a conductor for several years, and I tagged along every chance I got. Even got a few cab rides which were really neat. However, that operation is no more so all we Eastern PA folks have is the New Hope and Ivyland (which I have never been to), The W,K,&S railroad(Kempton PA), Steamtown, and the Strassburg Railroad. All of which are a long enough drive to dictate a weekend trip. I have however heard rumors that there may be tourist trains operating from Kutztown PA to Topton PA starting this summer, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Talk to you later Mike.
