I was going to leave this alone until I noticed you correcting other peoples spelling: There is no such thing as a "widecab"  the cab is the same width on most locomotives, however the nose on some engines are wider than others.  Also for your "GE's always have noselight" statement

Uhhh...there's only one "f."

And, just for curiosity, do you ever enjoy any of your time spent trackside at Altoona, or do you just prefer to find as many things as possible to complain about on this board?

Good question.

I agree, my spelling sucks and I know it. Those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones though.

You can put me down as an EMD fan. I can't think of anything that sounds better than a 645 or 567 prime mover.  Baldwins have a really nice growl. Alcos chug worse than EMD and they smoke black too. And GEs shoot fire.

My all time EMD favorite is the GP38-2, followed closely by all F units and then all of the other Geeps.

I'm not exactly sure which I like. I'm right in between a fork in the railroad where EMDs are used on one, and GEs are used most of the time on the other (Ottumwa and Marceline Subs of the BNSF). Every time I go to the Ottumwa Sub, EMDs are expected. GEs are seen on the Marceline Sub. However, the GEs are beginning to appear more and more on the Ottumwa sub, so...I'd say 51% GE, 49% EMD. I also like those times when I see a GE and an EMD on the same train...a nice blend.

Long live the BNSF .... AND its paint scheme. SchemerBob

Us vs Them

Grew up in a GM family, so the leaning is toward EMD.  But I do like those Alcos!

When I was growing up GEs were extreamly rare on the SP lines near where I lived (Coast,Bay Area,Modoc). So I would have to say EMDs because that's what I grew up with.

I've always been a huge EMD fan, but GE does build pretty good locomotives. I'd go 70% EMD, 30% GE. I don't hate GE by any means, but bad-mouth EMD and I get nasty!Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]

I vote EMD. I like the sound of the engines better. Although the AC44's looked real goond ing the CNW ligntning stripe and SP speed lettering.

EMD did give us the SDXX series, which aren't bad.  However I do like the -9's!  I'll go 60% GE, 40% EMD

Alco's baby.   Gotta love the lope and smoke.

Ok.  I'd have to kick in for the EMD's.
