Not in the immediate future. KCS might be swallowed up, but even that is not likely at the moment.

Are the merger alignments as certain in the east as they are up north? Right now, we have no doubt about the whole UP/CP - CN/BNSF thing....

No One! How about there simply be no more mergers for American Class 1 railways be allowed. The railroads can expand all they wish but there just won't be any more mergers. That way we leave two carriers in the west and two carriers in the east. Sure that's never gonna happen... but it's an idea.

I think CSX and America Online should merge, they both have a hard time making a connection!

That their is funny!!!! But it is true both really can't make any connection if their life depends on it.

The next merger will be UP/CSX/CN and BNSF/NS.CP and they both will run KCS and the Mexican connection.

If we get a final round of mega-mergers, and they involve Canadian railroads, CP will most definitely find itself under the waving American flag of UP...

If and when ANY mergers happen, NS and CSX will most likely NOT merge, nor will UP and BNSF.

How about NS and Florida East Coast to break CSXT's hold on the Sunshine State? ( Although I believe it has in fact been tried before)

It appears to me, that the fascination is with Conrail, perhaps?

How about CSX merges with Benjamin Moore, so they can paint that darn bridge?Wink [;)]

Murphy Siding. Yes it is a fascination with BIG BLUE, but it is also who will join eastern railroads.
