Mississippi River Crossings
Posted by samfp1943 on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 2:44 PM

There is a jewel on the Trackside Guide part of this Forum..   Nanaimo 73 has authored, and with help from some others has coordinated a really informative piece of documentation on the railroad crossings of the Mississippi River[ both upper river, and lower river].    I had skimmed it some time back, and it was interesting then, but it has grown to be quite a document; if you have not visited it, it truly bears reading and enjoying.

Thanks, Dale, and the other contributers that have added the photos and information to your project.

Yes, I was really impressed with the job they did on that too.

Expanding that into a magazine article would be interesting, maybe with an analysis of how being one of the railroads that spanned the Mississippi affected each of their fortunes.

I know that being one surely gave the Wabash some advantages compared to the lines it competed against that didn't.
