1) how old are you? (if you don't mind)
2) why is everything always in capitals? (that symbolizes screaming!)

Bob - my husband is 5 mos older than I am and I always remind him of that between July and Dec!

York and Omaha - they are both still there! And I got to ride the zephyr a couple of times. Both to Omaha and Colorado. Great fun!

Believe me, the "kids" on this forum will keep you laughing and share a lot of very good information. It's better than TV!

Thanks for all the good responses to my message. I lived in Big Red Country, York, Nebraska. I was born in Omaha. I remember when the Burlington Zephyr came through York---was it about 1937, I think--- . Later I was on Highway 6 going towards Hastings > The Zephyr was running parallel to 6 going toward Denver from Chicago. We were driving around 50-60 mph. It went by us and it made us feel like we were standing here. I live in Arizona now.

Valentine, NE looks like a metropolis after driving across miles and miles of nuthin, especially at night on US-20 or US-83.

Curious to see where our 82 going on 16 Bob calls home.

Naw, you are too nice to be in trouble. I only live in this state, I don't visit it.

The only lines I know are the ones that I heard about many years ago.

A few years back my driver took me to Chadron. He was curious - for once, I wasn't.

Got a really long nap and opened one eye thru the sandhills and decided it was just a lot of kitty litter. There were no trains, no birds, no trees, no nothing - just an occasional pick-em-up truck and a windmill for, they tell me, the cattle just over that dune over yonder. You probably know more about my state that I do. I just know it is hot and cold. And a lot of both! And has high taxes!

He who poops thru feathers: Dad never went to O'Neill, so don't know if it was part of the LIncoln Line. He did Alliance sometimes but mostly Ravenna, Grand Island and Hastings. Even I haven't been to O'Neill. Or if I was, I slept thru it - I travel very well. Just give me 5 min in a car and you won't hear from me for hours!
Guess we will have to wait to see what town.

I am just a little past my teenage years---I am 82. I still love trains. When I was between 4 and 6 years old, I used to watch Chicago Northwestern hauling grain and cattle out of the middle of Nebraska. When I was older, I would ride my bike up to the north end of town to see the CBQ. I used to ride Trailway Buses. I heard that they could beat the Challenger from Chicago to San Francisco by seven hours. Has anyone else ever heard this?
Now I am 50 miles from the nearest active railroad. My wife drives me down to see the UP trains in Tucson at least once a week. I have limited eyesight, but I love to see trains.

Thank you for letting us be a part of your life. I hope we don't let you down, and that we keep you entertained. This one-eyed thing is my entertainment and I truly enjoy the forums and the private emails I get from the forum members. Checking the forums and emails are the highlights of my day, then it goes downhill from there--I have to go to work.

WELCOME to the forums, both you and your wife. [:)]

You are certainly welcome to email me anytime.

Bob! The Mookie is so happy to hear from you! I live in Lincoln and thought I was the oldest person on here! You have me beat by 22 years! And you remember the old CBQ! What town did you live in when you were here? Probably around the Hastings, GI, or maybe Alliance area?

Happy train watching and welcome to the forum!

Or if you want a better solution, download Trillian. It does MSN, ICQ, AIM, and Yahoo!

go to http://messenger.msn.com/Download/

download it! It's free, and I personally like it better than Yahoo. Plus, more people use MSN.
