Don Phillips-Trains July 2006

Having just returned from a fabulous week in Wolsztyn Poland I was very surprised to see Don's lament about the lack of mainline steam in europe.
Your article last year about Wolsztyn's mainline steam operation opened up a world I thought was dead. Don said "if steam were still running, I'd be out with my camera every day".
I recommend Mr. Phillips take a 4 hour train ride east from Berlin to find the "Wolsztyn Experience". He can take pictures AND work as a functioning crew member on mainline steam locomotives, driving and hand firing 2-6-2's and 2-8-2's on daily commuter runs up to 60mph.
Many thanks to Trains for bringing this unique place to my attention.
I recommend it to anyone looking for a true mainline/branchline steam experience. Grab it while it's still here.
