How bad are you getting hit at the pump?

I haven't really been paying to the price so closely since I only get gas when the needle is on "empty". Don't get me wrong, I do fill up the tank.

Anyways regardless of the price, the last 3 times I filled up my Toyota Tercel in Columbus OH, it has cost me at least $23.00.... and I just filled up at a record (for me) $25.50! [:(!][:(!][:(!]

I pay about $3.05, more or less, where I am in Connecticut (and you think you have problems, Marc!); my son, in Montreal, the equivalent of $4.00 US, more or less. And my daughter, in Edinburgh, UK, the equivalent of about $7.00 US.

Paid $2.55 for 87 octane in Lexington, S.C. yesterday. Passed the same station this morning and noticed the price jumped 14 cents overnight.

Over the past week the price for 87 Octane has bounced around between $2.71 and $2.96 from station to station from hour to hour.

2.49 on Thursday, 2.59 on Friday and 2.57 on Saturday. Interesting here we have a warning system for a price increase. The Shell stations all go up one day before the others but they usually go up an extra ten cents then drop later. Wednesday evening Shell went to 2.69 then Thursday evening all the others go to 2.59 then on Friday the Shell stations dropped to 2.59. The other interesting thing is seeing three cars at the Shell pumping 2.69 gas when the Phillips 66 across the street is selling gas at 2.49.

Out here Pheonix, it has finally semmed to come down from the 3 dollar marl Some places are now in the 2.94-2.99 range.

I have a small business and my income is always being wathced. I dont have much in the way ofextra dollars and living lean has become the norm. This gas crunch (Katrina, now) has been kinda rough. I dont go out to railfan as much and there is still a new train store that I have not been to yet due to the fact its 30 miles away. I cant jusitify spenidng 12 bucks in gas ( I drive a Dodge ) just too look around or buy a 10 dollars train car kit. Argh.... But atleast it is coming down, and I will take that.

...With figures quoted in several posts above and my own experience of seeing 10 - 12% or more money changes back and forth daily...it really is most difficult to believe anything of the banded about reasoning: Supply and demand....I believe that reasoning less and less each day that passes with price changes we're seeing.

I earlier reported $2.69 for reg in Sarasota and it has now gone to $2.82 - no real reason why.

Two weeks ago I was in Laguna Beach, CA and supreme was $3.93! When I remarked about the price, the station attendant said "Shell just sent us 4s..." which I suppose gets them ready to post prices of $4+.

I really do LOVE my Honda Civic Hybrid.

It's been 2.89.9 here for quite some time. We decided not to take a day trip over the holiday, and so didn't spend $45-50 in gas. It was kinda nice just staying put. We are driving fewer miles with the higher price, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Just a choice.

I was amazed that gas actually went down over the Memorial Day weekend, and found the lowest price ($2.81) at a station in a tiny town - the place you'd expect the highest price! Filled up Monday and will fill up tomorrow. Haven't been watching otherwise.

I recall when Desiel hit 2.00 a month back in the late 80's and the trucking was in a uproar.

I did find a Jersey Fuel stop with a 1.20 price of fuel and filled it (@200 gallons I think it was) and opened my big mouth on the radio and caused a 2 mile backup on both sides of that street waiting to fill from that poor man's tiny storage tank. I never did find out if everyone got thier fuel at 1.20 =)

Having said that, we do fill the cars once a week. compared to last year's prices and the year before that it is an increase of 10 dollars a tank, easily compensated by hand preparing our own food for work instead of buying lunches or snacks at work.

We do watch where we take the car, a trip to the LHS that might be weekly 2 years ago is only a monthly or is part of another trip like a doctors' appointment in the same area. Purchases are planned months in advance.

What qualifies as regular? I love how Colorado newcasters always make us out to be lower than the country average. Never mind the fact that they're comparing our regular (85 octane) to everyone else's regular (87 octane...although I think Utah might be 85, too).

Just one of those curiosities of living in Colorado I guess. Kind of like having to read High Altitude directions when one cooks certain pre-packaged things.
