QUOTE: Originally posted by TheAntiGates It is surprising just how often NS crews report trespassers. I have a pretty low key presence when I'm out railfanning, it's a REAL rarity that I would be on the right of way when a movement is rolling by .] But when listening to the local dispatcher from my home via web radio it is often amazing how frequently I hear road crews report trespassers in spots that I myself railfan nearby it would be fooli***o assume that I never get reported, given the reports I hear about others. . Cows? now THERE would be a sticky mess to have to scrape up
QUOTE: The crew mentioned something about "cows being on the right of way near MP 482." The dispatcher responded back "you are reporting that there are cows trespassing at milepost 482?"

Ya well........I thought that Train crews useing cell phones on all Trains where banned because cell phones where a distraction. Allan. Not much different from a local crew getting their permissions via landline from the yard office. On the other hand, seems like I saw a section in the NORAC rules banning unauthorized electronic devices, so your MP3 player is out. Happen to me at Penn Station Pittsburgh two nights ago. I was taking shots of NS Helper Set C7A at 3am waiting for the Cap Limited to come in. I was on the Amtrak owned platform but the helper set called the dispatcher and said that I was taking pictures right in front of them on the RoW. Dispatcher said he would call the cops. I wanted none of that so I gave him a wave and walked back towards the Amtrak station. After that, C7A called the dispatcher again and said I must have had a radio because I took off. Got down to the Amtrak side of the platform. When I got there, the Amtrak crew cracked some jokes at me, told me to be safe when taking my shots, and went on their way. PS- the cops never came and I got some cool shots of the Cap pulling into the Burgh Reply Edit Join our Community! Our community is FREE to join.
