locomutt, consider yourself fried&smothered in barbecae sauce.I just saw The Station Agent last week.It is a really great movie about a railfan who inherits a station in New Jersey.[8D]

Has anyone else seen this movie, I saw it last week, and I have ask,

Are Railfan meetings like the one depicted in the movie????

A railfan is showing a movie of a steamer excursion taken from one of the cars that enters a tunnel, he keeps filming while its in the tunnel, all while he's droning on and on... "this was a long tunnel, it was dark and very cold,"

Interesting movie, it stays in your head.
Yes,I have seen some railfan shows almost like that one![|)]

I am embarrased to say that I have only seen Disney's "The Great locomotive chase". Of course I had gotten that one for christmas one year, and that is why Ive seen it. I have to say, it has some good shots of the B&O Museum's William Mason (oldest original operating steam loco in the US) and laffayete (1927 operating replica), and a few other locomotives. I will be watching Cecil B. DeMille's Union Pacific soon though, found a copy at the museum I work at, and set it out for use in the Museum's Video Room (anybody want to see it, come to the museum on a saturday, thats of course if you are willing to come to the middle of Maryland)[C=:-)][dinner][xx(][alien]

End of the Line was filmed in North Little Rock, Benton, and other central Arkansas areas. It also starred Mary Steinbergen, a North Little Rock native. [:D]

Okay, guys, listen up: here's some train-related movies for you:

Hobo's Christmas, On the Right Track, Throw Mama from the Train, Matewan, and
Where the Hell's That Gold?

Hobo's Christmas stars Gerald McRaney and Bernard something plays his long-lost
father who comes in on a train to see him and his grandchildren for Christmas.

On The Right Track stars Gary Coleman, an orphan who lives in the subway in New York.

Throw Mama From the Train stars Danny Devito and Billy Crystal. Danny keeps wanting
Billy to find ways to kill his Mama who drives him NUTS .

Matewan is filmed around Thurmond, WV on the old C&O line. It's a mining story.

Where The Hell's the Gold? stars Willie Nelson, and is pretty funny.

Runaway Train: the Funit was not just a yard switcher. It was the lead unit in the brace of
the motive power that was supposed to pull the train. And yes, the fight train was on the
lead unit (the F unit).

Also check out the Kenny Rodgers "Gambler" movies. I think there were trains on them.

For all those who remember old tv, check out Petticoat Junction and the old Hooterville
Cannonball.

I didn't get a single railroad video (yet, still got a family gift exchange coming up), but i did rent Cecil De Mille's Union Pacific. Good movie except for the scenes that actually looked like it was on a model railroad.

Union Pacific is an awesome movie for its time. It one of the best Westerns I've ever seen (but my fav's "My Darling Clementine" with Henry Fonda).

It has everything, gun fights, trainwrecks, and one of the best bar fight in movies history. Joel McCrea is great, with Robert Preston is always fun to watch, "Eh, Bucko?"

So they used models, would you rather they destroyed vintage equipment? BTW the 2-4-0 locomotive used in the movie is at the California Railway Museum is Sacramento.

   Have fun with your trains
