Are there such things as disel engines with 8 sets of trucks and if so what are they? IE, Four sets of wheels in front and rear?

All 3 US made 4 axle units GE had the U 50 class Alco had the C855 and EMD had lets see the DD35B DD35 DD40 and the last one the DD40X
