BNSF On Guard Program Puts Safety First

*"BNSF recognizes there are many railroad enthusiasts throughout the system who can be helpful in reporting security violations and suspicious activities. Next year, BNSF will launch a new program similar to the internal BNSF ON GUARD program to gain rail fan support as another layer in rail transportation security. More details of the program will be released in the future.

In the meantime, anyone who notices anything suspicious should call the Resource Operations Call Center at 1-800-832-5452. However, do not take action on your own if you spot a possible problem – call 1-800-832-5452. For more information about the ON GUARD program, go to the Resource Protection intranet site and click Protection Solutions."

Would be nice to see this type of recognition nationwide...

But, as always, courtesy when challenged will be the first order of business. All this program needs to go south in a hurry is for some self-righteous railfan to stand on the "rail enthusiast" title and insist he's above the law...

Now we get to wave red flags to stop the trains so we can check the cab to make sure there is no unauthorized riders!

I don't go healed every day, But iron and railfanning are a good combination (in the right spot). Ya know....Shoot a few cans with Ruger,Winchester, Smith & Wesson then shoot a few trains with the Canon.[:D]

I think this is an awesome and great step forward.

Railfans can be an asset and its great BNSF is doing this - mega dittos to them.

Now if only other RR's would do the same.

I give it six months before somebody "turns in" the interloper in "my train-watching-spot" and the program gets scrapped [B)] giving railfans another black eye.

Honestly, I think it's a good idea, and I hope it "saves the day" a time or two, before the beancounters say the cost-benefit ratio is wrong.

As long as the stupid Railfan stays off the property. BNSF could care less what He/She does. As one has said on this forum once,it is amaizing what some Railfans will do just to get that one shot, even if it includes Tresspassing! Allan.
