Im glad he did what he did. However, he should have called either the police or the railroad, to make sure that if he couldnt get the dog off, all the trains would have stopped.

The police called an animal control officer. It appears no one thought to call the railroad. [oops]

No matter;at least the dog survived. That's the most important thing; I guess you could call that one:
"A VERY LUCKY DOG !!"
Hope dog winds up with a very good family;Ours wouldn't know what to do in that situation(hopefully,that wouldn't happen)

Ed-The weather has been right for a Siberian Husky up here, but I guess the Trans-Siberian railroad does not have enough trackage to breed "stay away from train tracks" into the Husky.

On reading the thread title, my first thought was it's probably a Husky. We have a couple and they're pretty fearless when it comes modern society. Ours would run right in front of a UPS truck if it were chasing a rabbit.

This story is eerily similar to another one that comes close to home for me. About 17 years ago we found a husky on the CNW tracks behind our house. We'd seen him in the area for a while but when we hadn't seen him for a while we thought perhaps his owner found him. End of story, right? Nope...

Someone caught the dog, tied his legs up, and put him in a big black garbage bag and left him on the tracks. My dad saw a bag wiggling on the tracks and went to investigate whereupon he found the dog. He and the dog had been home for ~ 5 minutes when a train came past. Called the PD but nobody ever was caught. Glad this one's ok.

Now that's just sick, one thing for a dog to get stuck, but to purposefully bound and bag on there, gaws just thinking about it makes me want to puke.

Although I have suspicion this dog was purposefully stuck there, how can a furred being get stuck to a piece of cold iron without some sort of large amounts of water being used.

That is so wrong in every way possible. [}:)] Who ever did that is either pure D evil or just plain dangerous. P.S. I am glad he survived. Both of them. Its kind of sad that by contacting the police they did not first generate a call to the railroad and then animal control.
